Nanna (Japanese: ナンナ Nanna) is a princess of the Agustrian state of Nordion, and the daughter of Princess Lachesis of Nordion. She is a playable character appearing in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War and Fire Emblem: Thracia 776.
Biography
Nanna was born in Leonster in the year preceding its downfall, she lived most of her life on the run with her mother and Leonster's Prince Leif as they evaded capture by the Friege forces occupying the Munster District. Eventually, after Lachesis abandoned them to find her other child, Nanna, Leif and their guardian Finn settled in the village of Fiana in Thracia.
In Grann 776, Fiana was attacked by the Munster army under Raydrik and Nanna was abducted along with Mareeta, which prompted Leif and Finn to emerge from hiding and amass a revolution against the invaders of the Munster District; she was rescued from imprisonment in Munster Castle shortly into the war and accompanied Leif through its duration. Their efforts soon merged with those of Seliph of Chalphy when he rescued the trio from being cornered at Leonster.

Nanna is a playable character in the second generation, if Lachesis was married and still alive at the end of Chapter 5. In Chapter 7, Nanna—along with Finn and Leif—will appear as player units next to Leonster. In Chapter 8, Nanna, Leif, and Finn will start next to Leonster castle instead of in the home castle.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Nanna is a troubadour that joins in Chapter 7 alongside Leif and the returning Finn. She's underleveled, being at level 3 and with low base stats. Like her mother Lachesis, she lacks Follow-Up, but unlike her, she can't even get it after promotion, which is a big problem when she's fighting, especially since she cannot promote into a Master Knight like her. While she can heal, her magic is very low and will barely grow unless her father is a mage, and she's generally frail, with poor defense and mediocre HP.
However, in spite of her poor base stats, Nanna has her strengths: being a mounted healer is very useful, allowing her to heal someone from a large distance, and having Canto will allow her to fall back for protection after healing and attacking. Her mother's Minor Hoðr Holy Blood grants her high a generally high strength growth and an A rank in swords at base, which will make her a good offensive unit with training, and she also generally has a good luck growth. Her poor magic growth is compensated by her joining with a Mend staff at base, and she can fix her shaky defense with the Lands Sword, which is a 2-range sword that can be used as an indirect attack at a distance and heals her if she hits the opponent, but its uses are limited to only 10, so it should be used carefully. She promotes into a Paladin, and while C-level lances are useless to her due to their higher weight, she will get some solid stats bonuses that include +6 in strength and defense, which will help her on the offensive front.
Nanna also inherits her mother's skill, Charm, which increases accuracy and avoid for everyone who is within three spaces of her, and not only it stacks with Seliph's authority stars, but her brother Diarmuid also has Charm, so it also stacks with his own. This makes Nanna good at supporting other units, even when she's not healing any of them.
In terms of fathers, Nanna could use a father that grants Follow-Up. Azelle grants both that and a decent magic growth, improving her potential as a healer, and Diarmuid isn't too hindered by the magic stats, as he will be able to use magic swords effectively, but they can't use tomes, Diarmuid's strength will not always be sufficient, and Azelle has better options. Finn is a solid option, as he grants her Follow-Up, a high luck growth, and Miracle, which helps her in dangerous situations, and has a conversation with her that increases her speed, but he will lose his lances. Beowolf is similiar to Finn in terms of inheritance, but he passes down sligthly more HP and strength in exchange for less luck and Accost instead of Miracle, and he will also pass down swords to Diarmuid, maximizing their combat potential. Lastly, Claud gives her a B in staves and improved magic, but comes at the cost of both Nanna's and Diaramud's combat.
Overall, Nanna is a versatile unit that can fulfill offensive and supporting roles effectively.
Fire Emblem: Thracia 776
Role
Nanna is a playable character. At the start of Chapter 5, Nanna, along with Eyvel, appear as player units in the middle on the central arena. In Chapter 14, she can recruit Homer by visiting the north-eastern house. If Nanna is still alive at the start of Chapter 21, Diarmuid will automatically join. Her personal weapons are the Lands Sword and the Bragi Sword.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Nanna is a utility unit above all else. While her luck is good and her base speed is decent, she has low stats at base, especially in strength, defense and HP, and her very low constitution of 4 greatly reduces her speed. In the arena where she starts, she cannot afford being attacked at close-range by the pre-promoted gladiators or by Mareeta or she will be doubled and killed or captured, and her frailty means that she should be used cautiously in combat, as enemies will generally two-shot her. Her growth rates are just as bad, with poor HP, strength, magic, and defense growths. Nanna's main early utility lies in her skill, Charm. Charm increases the accuracy and avoid by 10 for every ally up to three spaces from her. Nanna also supports Leif, Finn, Diarmuid, and Homer, being the only character that gives Leif support bonuses instead of just receiving them. Supports increase their accuracy, avoid, crit chance and crit avoid by 10. Leif and Diarmuid also support Nanna back, and the support bonuses stack with Charm as well as her brother's own Charm, making Nanna's presence a great help to her allies, especially when there are a lot of enemies or in situations with Ballistae.
Nanna can use staves with no investment, but only at E-rank. This limits her to the Heal staff. Unlike other staff users, she will not gain any additional rank on promotion, so she is unlikely to have a rank above a C even with a moderate amount of staff grinding. She also has a low base skill at 6. Staves can miss in Thracia, and Nanna's skill means that her accuracy at base is 84%. For that reason, Nanna is a good user of the Od Scroll, which increases her skill growth by 30%. As soon as she reaches 10 skill, she will not miss with staves anymore.
Outdoors, Nanna becomes mounted, which comes with utility perks. She is mobile enough to support her allies in most places on the map and to keep up with the frontlines. She can also rescue-drop allied units, helping them reach important locations faster. It also helps keep vulnerable allies away from danger. Besides that, Nanna can also take captured units from allies who captured them and drop them. Being a mounted healer with high movement, Nanna can do several things from afar. She's also the only Troubadour in the game, and the only other mounted healer in the game is Amalda, a pre-promoted female Paladin who is recruited late in the game and only if route A was chosen in Chapter 15, meaning that Nanna may be the only mounted healer in the army. Furthermore, as female Paladin is the only staff-using class that can also use the Flame Sword, Nanna can make use of it to gain +5 extra magic for her staves. This is very powerful in the lategame where enemy staff users start on +10 magic-granting terrain; even maxed magic and Magic Up may not be sufficient, but with the Flame Sword on top, Nanna can status them directly with enough magic investment. While her magic base and growth are low, her promotion grants +3 magic, the Ced Scroll is obtainable early for a small boost and the Heim Scroll gives a more impactful one later on, and Nanna's high number of levels to grow ensure she has enough time to pick up the scrolls she needs to get a high magic stat for the lategame. Nanna's class is one of the least penalized ones when dismounted, as her stat penalties indoors are among the lowest, and she can use both swords and staves at any time, so she will still contribute well indoors.
Nanna has a base C-rank in swords and a personal sword, the Lands Sword. The sword is very powerful, with 1-2 range, magical damage at 2-range, and 12 might. It also has a Nosferatu effect, healing her for the damage dealt with it. Even so, Nanna's combat stats are far from high enough to do significant combat on enemy phase, and she loses 5 points of speed with her base constitution. Without investment, Nanna can use the sword to weaken enemies on player phase, but not much else.
There are ways to make Nanna's enemy phase combat good, though. The easiest way is to give her the Wrath Manual from Chapter 8x. With Wrath, Nanna will always crit on the first hit while counterattacking, and the sword's life-stealing effect will prevent her from dying. However, even with Wrath Nanna is not always able to one-shot enemies, especially at melee range. Having a mounted unit that can fight an entire group of enemies is especially useful in Chapter 9. Nanna can get the attention of foes trying to kill Selphina's group of units and one-round them on enemy phase. It is also useful for enemy groups of Dark Mages who use the combination of Jormungand and Hel. She can also contribute in the chapter she joins if she's between Eyvel and the door: in this position, she's in no danger of getting attacked, and if Eyvel has weakened an enemy, Nanna can safely attack them with the Lands Sword. If she succeeds in hitting them and defeat them, she will quickly level up, although her attack can miss.
If the player wishes to use Nanna for combat, another good idea is to give her Crusader Scrolls. This will prevent Nanna from getting crit by enemies and increase her growths. Coupled with the Wrath Manual, she can gain several boosted levelups from combat. Unfortunately, the scroll options for strength early on are limited, and magic scrolls are also limited. For bonus experience gain, Nanna can also keep the Paragon Sword in her inventory. It works well for her as if she has it, it will double her experience gain not only from combat but also from healing.

Personality
At first, Nanna was quite underdeveloped and reserved due to being somewhat sheltered much like her childhood friend Leif, as she and her friend Mareeta were kidnapped by Raydrik before she could fight back. She was also afraid when she got involved in the arena after her capture, and had to rely on Eyvel to stay alive. In spite of that, she cared about Leif greatly, telling him to run away when Raydrik used her as a hostage to force Leif and the others to give up, although he got captured for not listening to her.
During the hardships of battles, Nanna grew into a strong-willed and headstrong young woman, much like her mother Lachesis, something that Finn noticed. A good example of her strong will was when she met Homer when she was defending Tarrah alongside the others, slapping him and yelling at him angrily because he tried to seduce her and was wasting his time in drinking wine when every single person in Tarrah is trying to defend their city, which led him to join Leif's army. She kept her stubbornness in the face of danger during her battles with Seliph's army.

Nanna - The Queen of Nordion
After the victory at Belhalla, Nanna joined Leif in the battle to liberate Agustria. Later, she married Leif and devoted her life to helping orphans who lost their family in the war. Due to her sweetness and generosity, the citizens affectionately referred to her as "Princess Nanna" even after she became queen. Her life with Leif is said to have ended happily.
