Hayato

|
“ | I'm not a child. I'm a grown man! | ” | — Hayato, annoyed at being called a child. |
---|
Hayato (Japanese: ツクヨミ Tsukuyomi) is a character in Fire Emblem Fates. A diviner from Hoshido's Wind Tribe and an orphan raised by the tribe's chieftain Fuga.
Biography
Birthright
Hayato makes his first appearance at the end of Chapter 8 where he is introduced to Corrin's army after they successfully overcome Fuga's challenge in the Wind Tribe Village. Fuga urges Corrin to recruit Hayato into their ranks, describing him as a skilled Diviner who is in need of real-world experience. Although initially hesitant due to mistaking Hayato for an ordinary child, Corrin is later convinced otherwise by Fuga's persuasions. Before Hayato departs with Corrin, Fuga urges Corrin to take good care of him, prompting him to, in a fit of annoyance, remind him that he is no longer a child. Hayato helps Corrin settle an age-old conflict shared between Hoshido and Nohr.
Conquest
Hayato appears as an enemy unit in Conquest's Chapter 20. He fights at Fuga's will, as Fuga wishes to test Corrin's worthiness to wield Yato. Fuga sends his best men alongside Hayato to test Corrin and allow passage through the Wind Tribe Village, and further into Hoshido.
Revelation
Hayato is one of the foes faced by Corrin's army during Fuga's challenge in the Wind Tribe Village during Chapter 9. Despite the effort staged by Hayato and his allies, they are eventually defeated, and the Wind Tribe is thereafter convinced of the sincerity of Corrin's intentions. Fuga then offers to provide aid to Corrin's army, only for Hayato to step forward of his own accord to volunteer himself. Hayato later helps Corrin to put an end to Anankos' machinations.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Hayato is a level 1 Diviner starting in Chapter 9 of Birthright. From the start, his bases are a little low compared to the enemies stats, even on normal difficulty. However, his growths are pretty good, with HP, magic, speed, and luck being relatively high, skill and defense being a little lower, his resistance being trash, and his strength being decent for a magical character. His personal skill, Pride, gives him some more damage to equal or higher level enemies, which can be useful when training him. He starts with Diviner's starting skill of Magic +2, letting him do slightly more damage until his magic growth kicks in. He also starts with a D in tomes, letting him use the rat, ox, sheep, and monkey spirits. At level 10, he gets Future Sight, giving him a luck% chance to double gained experience when killing an enemy.
In Revelation, he starts as a level 9 Diviner in Chapter 10. His bases are improved to more match the enemies, and he is one level away from promotion, giving a huge increase to his capabilities.
In his main class line, Hayato can promote to Onmyoji or Basara. Onmyoji only gives more magic, and access to rods/staves for a supportive option. For growths, it only slightly increases his magic and resistance, and reduces his strength and luck. For skills, Rally Magic is a great supportive skill, and Tomefaire is amazing, adding an extra five attack with scrolls/tomes. Basara, on the other hand, has overall better promotion bonuses, and gives increases to his HP, strength, luck, and defense growths, but decreases to magic and speed. For its skills, Rend Heaven gives a chance to deal extra damage from half of the foe's strength or magic, but is probably unreliable due to his not very high skill growth, and Quixotic, which doubles skill activation for both units in combat. This skill can be very good on normal, but is very risky on Lunatic due to the presence of more skills on the enemies. Both classes can be good with Onmyoji giving more support, and Basara being more combat oriented, and is made better with Hayato having an okay strength growth as Basara compared to others terrible strength or magic growths as one.
Oni Savage is his other class option, and it is not so bad at all, giving him a 50% strength growth. Seal Resistance and Shove are okay support abilities, but are not necessary to his performance. Oni Savage increases his strength and defense growths, and decreases his magic, skill, speed, luck, and resistance growths. The promotions are both very good in a variety of ways. Starting with the basics, Oni Chieftain gives more strength, magic, defense, and resistance, and access to tomes from Oni Savage, or axes if directly reclassing. For growths, Oni Chieftain has the same as Oni Savage aside from slight increases to his magic and resistance growths, and a decrease to his HP growth. The skills are the main treat, with Death Blow giving a great crit rate increase on player phase, and Counter deals all damage done by the foe back to them. If the player wants Hayato to be a magic physical hybrid, this class has its own unique perks compared to Basara, with the main draw being a harder hitting physical weapon with axes compared to weaker lances, and potentially slightly more balanced growths, with the main problem being Oni Chieftain having a 30% skill growth compared to Basara having a 40% growth. For the other promotion, Blacksmith gives more HP, skill, speed, luck, and access to swords from Oni Savage, or axes in addition to swords directly reclassing. Blacksmith gives higher HP, strength, skill, and defense growths, but decreases his magic, speed, and resistance growths. The first skill of Salvage Blow is a skill that will be heavily outclassed in the late game with only giving iron weapons, but the second skill of Lancebreaker is potentially well worth the reclass, giving a whopping fifty extra hit and avoid against lances regardless of the weapon type.
As a father, Hayato passes higher growths in HP, magic, speed, luck, and defense. On Birthright, Felicia, Sakura, and Orochi are all great options for a wife, with each bringing their own unique perks to both Hayato and Rhajat. First, Felicia passes both of them Troubadour as another magical class, but it is mostly useful for having a mount from Strategist, and getting Tomebreaker and maybe Live to Serve from Butler and Maid respectively. Sakura passes the Monk class to Hayato, and the Shrine Maiden class to Rhajat via gender restrictions. These classes best utility comes only from the promotion of Great Master for Hayato, and Priestess for Rhajat. They both give Renewal to fix their low bulk, and Countermagic to deals all damage done by the opponent back to them if they used a magic attack. Lastly, Orochi passes Apothecary, which will be okay for Hayato, but not so much Rhajat since she might not have a high strength growth. The best part of Orochi is she passes a much higher magic growth compared to the others, making her the option for Rhajat being a magical powerhouse.
On Revelation, he can still chose the Birthright options, but there are advantages from picking a Nohrian wife, with the only one being Nyx, who should be considered with her useful perks. Nyx passes Dark Mage as a great magical class, with the best part being access to Bowbreaker from Sorcerer, and Lifetaker from Dark Knight. Nyx herself gets the Diviner class from Hayato so that she can use Onmyoji to get Tomefaire for herself to power up her own magical attacks.

Personality
This section has been marked as a stub. Please help improve the page by adding information.
As a young genius, Hayato hates being treated like a child by others. He has a very strong talent for magic and is therefore very arrogant, but he still works hard to learn. Nevertheless, he will also show a childish side, such as hating vegetables, liking sweets, and being very afraid of ghosts.
