“ | I was hunting for just the right gift for you when I caught your scent! Then I found the portal to your world! I can't believe I found you, my dear, daring, dashing Daddy! | ” | — Velouria |
---|
Nutty Family (Japanese: 風変わりな親子 Quirky Parent and Child) is the eighteenth paralogue chapter in Fire Emblem Fates. As a paralogue chapter, its events are not integral to the game's main storyline and can be done at the player's leisure. The chapter is unlocked after both clearing chapter 14 in Conquest or clearing chapter 13 in Revelation, and have Keaton married.
In this chapter, Keaton gets ambushed en route to the Deeprealm where his daughter, Velouria, lives, forcing Corrin and his/her army into action in a countryside. Velouria, having followed a smell out of her Deeprealm, eventually arrives into the area during the thick of the fight.

Nutty Family/Script
Inside one of the Deeprealms, we notice Velouria sniffing around some acorn-rich trees and considers taking the nicest of them to give to her father as a present; she then notices a portal atop one of the trees and smells her father's scent.
Cutting over to a countryside in central Hoshido, Velouria's father, Keaton, tells Kaze that they're almost at the portal to Velouria's Deeprealm but wonders where exactly the portal is; Kaze states that he's looking forward to meeting Velouria and states that she's more like Keaton than her mother right down to the tail, to which Keaton adds that Velouria prefers her own company and is not used to being around others. Kaze spots trouble, after which an invader Dark Mage* appears; Kaze states that it appears that the group is about to be ambushed, to which Keaton states that he's game for a fight even though he doesn't want to keep Velouria waiting. Preparations take place at this point.
Once preparations are finished, Keaton detects the scent of a wolfskin to the west across the battlefield, then deduces that it's Velouria's scent—then states that he's never shown Velouria the portal into this world; the battle begins at this point. Once any player unit crosses onto the western half of the map, at the start of the following player phase, Velouria arrives on the battlefield and explains her plight to Keaton; upon Keaton stating that he's in trouble, Velouria suggests that she lend her paw in battle, given that she's practiced hunting while in her Deeprealm.
Once the battle ends, Velouria thanks Keaton for arranging a game, to which Keaton states that the battle wasn't a game and that she could have been hurt; Keaton then asks Velouria to return to her Deeprealm, to which Velouria refuses and states that she's joining up with Corrin's army. As the two argue over how Corrin's army works, Velouria decides to hand Keaton her gift, to which Keaton admires the ensuing acorn; Keaton hands Velouria a gift of his own, to which Velouria finds enjoyment in a chewed-up bat wing. Keaton finally relents on letting Velouria joining up with Corrin's army, to which Velouria expresses joy at the prospect; as the excitement builds, Velouria tells Keaton to settle down as he's embarrassing her.
Summary
Keaton sets out for the gate to a Deeprealm in order to meet with his daughter, Velouria. Upon reaching the forest along the way, however, his group is set upon.

Note: The returning characters list only those recruited by the time this chapter can first be unlocked (after completing chapter 14 in Conquest or after completing chapter 13 in Revelation). Jakob is only a returning character if Corrin is female; if Corrin is male, then Felicia is a returning character instead. As a paralogue chapter, there is no set timeframe in which the chapter must be taken on; thus, it is possible to have recruited more characters than the above by the point the chapter is started.
