Wings of Justice (Japanese: 正義の翼 Wings of justice) is the ninth paralogue chapter in Fire Emblem Awakening. As a paralogue chapter, its events are not integral to the game's main storyline and can be done at the player's leisure. The chapter is unlocked after Chapter 13 is cleared and Sumia is married; reaching this chapter's location has additional requirements: the player must either clear Chapter 18, clear Chapter 14 and unlock Paralogue 5, or unlock Paralogue 10.

Chrom? Sir? Pegasus Knight Cynthia, returned from patrol, sir!...Whoops! [trips] Oof...Right on the face...S-sorry for my clumsiness, sir! I promise not to trip again for at least 24 hours!
— Cynthia, reporting back to Ruger

In this chapter, the Shepherds aim to defeat a group of bandits whose leader—Ruger—has been impersonating Chrom and raiding villages. Among the bandits is Cynthia, the daughter of Sumia.

Plot

Main article: Wings of Justice/Script

Robin notices a bustling town, and Chrom and the Shepherds enter the village for food. As they move about the village, the Shepherds scare off the villagers, and Frederick reports that the village has been repeatedly raided by bandits, the leader of which poses as Chrom. Amongst the bandits, Cynthia reports to Ruger—who she believes to be Chrom—that a group claiming to be led by Chrom has been spotted approaching, and that they must be impersonating him. Ruger plans to evade them, and Cynthia volunteers to distract them.

As the battle starts, Ruger notices mercenaries nearby; during the battle, he convinces the mercenaries to aid him. If Chrom talks to Cynthia and is not her father, she berates him for besmirching the name of her mother Sumia's friend—if Chrom is Cynthia's father, she berates him for besmirching her father's name; in either case, Chrom then states that he knows she is from the future and that Lucina is with them, and Cynthia joins him. If Sumia talks to Cynthia, she notices Sumia's ring is the same as her mother's, and concludes that Sumia is her mother and Ruger has been lying to her, joining Sumia.

After the battle, Frederick plans to explain the truth to the mercenaries Ruger convinced to fight as their wounds are tended to; he then berates himself for allowing anyone to impersonate Chrom. If Cynthia was recruited and survived, she approaches Sumia and explains that she is Sumia's daughter from the future, showing her future duplicate of Sumia's ring to prove it. Cynthia then trips and drops an unmade spearhead, explaining that Sumia promised to help make it, but did not return from battle before it was finished; Sumia offers to help finish the spear, to Cynthia's delight.

Note: The returning characters list only those recruited by the time this chapter is unlocked. As a paralogue chapter, there is no set timeframe in which the chapter must be taken on; thus, it is possible to have recruited more characters than the above by the point the chapter is started. The returning characters list also does not include any characters recruitable in other paralogues, as the player may not have taken on any other available paralogue chapters yet. The list also does not include any bonus units, as they are recruitable at the player's discretion.
