The Grand Pianta Statue is a landmark which first appears in Super Mario Sunshine. It has made various background appearances in spinoff games.

Description[]

The Grand Pianta Statue is a monument consisting of an unidentified Pianta standing on two blocks atop a pedestal.

In Super Mario series[]

Super Mario Sunshine[]

The Grand Pianta Statue located directly in the middle of Bianco Square in Delfino Plaza. At first, it is buried beneath a Generator and a large puddle of brown goop. After Mario and FLUDD defeat the Polluted Piranha Plant, a cutscene is shown in which the Grand Pianta Statue emerges from the ground, although Shadow Mario is seen standing on the statue as it rises. Following this, Mario has to rescue Peach from Shadow Mario, and after this, Shadow Mario returns to the statue and paints a Rainbow M on it that leads to Bianco Hills; this Rainbow M stays on the Grand Pianta Statue for the remainder of the game.

Super Mario Galaxy 2[]

A different Grand Pianta Statue appears in the Starshine Beach Galaxy.

In Mario Kart series[]

The Grand Pianta Statue appears in the background of two courses: Peach Beach and Delfino Square, first appearing in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Mario Kart DS respectively.

In the North American kiosk demo of Mario Kart DS, the statue was instead of a Yoshi fountain with water emerging from its mouth.

In Mario Power Tennis[]

The statue is present in the Delfino Plaza Court, which takes place in Bianco Square.
