- For the object in Yoshi Topsy-Turvy, see Basket (Yoshi Topsy-Turvy).
Baskets are an object in Super Mario Sunshine. They are regular woven fruit baskets.
In Super Mario Sunshine[]
In Delfino Plaza, there are four baskets, each owned by a different female Pianta, and Mario has to put three of a certain type of fruit that she wants into the basket, respectively. The Pianta behind the building where the entrance to Sirena Beach is wants three Banana Bunches, the Pianta to the right of the Shine Gate wants three pineapples, the Pianta on a small island near Pinna Park wants three Coconuts, and the female Pianta to the left of the Shine Gate wants three Durians. Every basket is positioned vertically except the one requiring Durians, which is faced horizontally, as Mario can only kick Durians rather than pick them up and place it into the basket. A basket briefly enlarges when a fruit is put inside of it, and the fruit itself disappears upon being put into the basket. Once Mario has put three of the requested type of fruit into the basket, the female Pianta jumps joyously, and Mario can talk to her to receive a blue coin.
In Pinna Park, there are several upside-down baskets in the beach area, just outside the amusement park, and each of them contain a blue coin. These baskets can only be destroyed by either a Bullet Bill, Missile Bill, or a Gold Bullet Bill crashing into it. Because the Bullet Bills are only launched by a Monty Mole, the baskets can only be broken in the episode The Beach Cannon's Secret.
Trivia[]
- There is an unused testing stage with a Soccer Ball that can be kicked into a cardboard box depicting two inward arrows and a GOAL sign on top; this mechanic would end up being used for the basket requiring three Durians.
