The Iron Hammer is the Offensive Power Shot used by Mario in both Mario Power Tennis and Mario Tennis: Power Tour. Upon activating Iron Hammer, Mario turns his tennis racket into a giant Hammer, which he swings at the tennis ball, covering it in flames, as it is passed on to the receiver. When the move ends, the tennis ball returns to normal, and the giant Hammer turns back into Mario's tennis racket.

Mario's Star Skill from the Mario Baseball series, Fireball, similarly involves a flame-covered baseball being thrown to the opponent at high speed.

• During McDonald's "Take the Mario Challenge" promotion in September 2006, one of the Happy Meal toys, named Mario Swing and Hit, is of the hammer used by Mario during his Iron Hammer move.
