The crate guy is a character who appears in Super Mario Sunshine.

Crate guy is a tan Pianta who wears glasses.

Behavior[]

Throughout most of Super Mario Sunshine, Crate guy is located in his shop. Around the start of Mario's adventure, Crate guy can still be seen outside the shop prior to its opening.

In Super Mario Sunshine[]

Crate guy is the owner of a small shop filled with crates in Delfino Plaza, and the shop is found left of the Shine Gate.

When Mario enters Crate guy's shop, he challenges Mario to destroy every crate in the shop within 30 seconds to a prize. To accomplish this, Mario has to Ground Pound every crate within the time limit, then the Crate guy rewards him a Shine Sprite.

If Mario returns to Crate guy's shop at any point after earning a Shine Sprite from him, the shop features more crates stacked on top of each other in four separate rows, rather than small groupings like before. The Crate guy gives Mario a harder timed challenge, retaining the same 30-second time limit, to destroy all of the crates once more for another Shine Sprite.
