Electric goop, also known as Electrified goop, Freezing goop, or Green goo,[1] is a variation of goop in Super Mario Sunshine.

Description[]

Electric goop's color consists of a mixture of teal and yellow, and it has electricity visibly surging from it.

Whenever Mario touches electric goop, he becomes electrocuted, taking damage in the process. Mario's colors are inverted while he is electrocuted. Both Piantas and Nokis are unaffected by electric goop, but the latter does sink into it. However, electric goop freezes Mario too because Mario freezes everytime when he gets electrocuted. Unlike burning goop, electric goop can deal damage to Mario even if he steps on a tiny speck of it on the ground, compared to burning goop requiring a slightly larger concentration.

In Super Mario Sunshine[]

In Sirena Beach's first episode, The Manta Storm, the beach is largely covered in electric goop, also causing Hotel Delfino to become buried beneath the electric goop. After Mario talks to the Hotel Delfino manager, the electric goop is revealed to have come from Manta. After Mario defeats the Manta, all of the electric goop disappear, Hotel Delfino rises back out, and Mario earns a Shine Sprite.

The only other time electric goop appears is in Sirena Beach's sixth episode, Scrubbing Sirena Beach. Here, it covers most of the beach, and Mario has to clean all of it within three minutes to obtain a Shine Sprite.

Trivia[]

  • The way how Nokis sink into electric goop is the exact same way as Toads and Piantas sink into regular goop.
  • Also, unlike both regular goop and burning goop, electric goop never spawns Swoopin’ Stus.
