The Grandmaster Galaxy is a galaxy in the game Super Mario Galaxy 2. It is the last galaxy to be unlocked in the game and this galaxy is located in World S. This galaxy is unlocked when Mario gets all 120 Power Stars and all 120 secret Green Power Stars, similar to the Grand Finale Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. It is an obstacle course with puzzles and enemies. The galaxy is divided into six sections, each presenting a different challenge to the player. Its icon displays a trophy.

Walkthrough[]

There are two missions in this Galaxy: The Ultimate Test and the Perfect Run.

  • The first section is where you swing from flower to flower with Yoshi's tongue while avoiding mines, Bullet Bills, and Paragoombas. Choppahs replace the Paragoombas in the galaxy's comet mission.
  • The second section is a square of flipswitches. The player must activate them all before the Launch Star appears while avoiding Sentry Beam attacks.
  • The third section is a maze of electric bolts that the player must maneuver around via Cloud Flower. The player will have to let go of Yoshi in this part if he/she has not already done so.
  • The fourth section you will have to navigate through a path of Flip-Swap Platforms while dodging laser waves and coconuts and flaming coconuts from the Octopuses.
  • The fifth one contains pull stars which you will have to use to navigate through electrical fences, Paragoombas, and mines.
  • The sixth and final one if it is the non-daredevil run will have a bunch of Hammer Bros and you will have to defeat them in order to earn the star or move on.
  • the seventh section is only playable if you are playing the daredevil run. Here there is nothing else to do but talk to Rosalina and get the star.

Completion[]

This galaxy contains two Stars: one for completing the level and another one for doing it again under Daredevil Comet conditions. In the latter case Mario gets the Star from Rosalina. They should be the 241st and 242nd stars in the game. After you have gotten the star in the daredevil comet run Rosalina will come aboard Starship Mario.

Swing Hook Area Yoshi must use his tongue to swing across the Flower Grapples to get to the Pole Planet. The background is shared with the Starting Planet. Pole Planet This planet, made from the same blocks that comprise the Starting Planet, concludes the Swing Hook Area. When they get here, Mario has to abandon Yoshi and climb a pole to the Launch Star which leads to a planet made of Flipswitch Panels. The background is shared with the Starting Planet. Flipswitch Planet Mario has to activate all of the Flipswitch Panels on this planet, arranged in a 5x5 grid with four gaps that have Sentry Beam robots in them. This done, he can leave the planet via the Launch Star that appears here. All Downward
Fan Planet This planet is a small platform made from two of the same blocks that comprise the Starting Planet with an upwards-blowing fan at the end. Due to the grate, Mario cannot take damage from the fan blades. The wind gust also blows the cloud platforms that he can create upon getting the Cloud suit upwards. The Windmill Planet is right in front. A Cloud Flower appears here so Mario can get the Cloud suit; if he somehow brought Yoshi here, Mario will be forced to ditch him upon getting the Cloud suit. Windmill Planet A floating windmill ahead of the Fan Planet. With the Cloud suit, Mario has to use his clouds to ride the wind created by this windmill to get through the Cloud Mario Electric Maze area. All Downward (Shared with Fan Planet)
Cloud Mario Electric Maze This area is a series of beams of electricity that must be avoided (due to them functioning like Electric rails) as Mario rides on the Windmill Planet's winds with his clouds. There are more Cloud Flowers in this section. All Downward (Shared with Fan Planet)
Flip-Swap Planets These planets are made from the same blocks that comprise the Flip-Swap Galaxy's planets, with the gaps in their layout being filled by Flip-Swap Platforms and Shrinking Tiles. Octopuses and Ring Beamers can be found here. All Downward
Pull Star Planets These are square blocks with Electric rails, bridged by a series of Pull Stars. These are necessary for Mario to get through the area, avoiding Space Mines, more Electric rails, and Paragoombas. All Downward
Hammer Bro Planets These planets resemble some of the platforms in Bowser's Lava Lair, and have Hammer Bros. All Downward
Purple Planets These planets are constructed from the same purple blocks that comprise the planets in the Beat Block Galaxy, arranged in 2x2 squares. Their distances are usually small, but some of the gaps are larger, being crossed using Flomps. A Comet Medal can be found to the right, and some Boomerang Bros can be found on the final planet and must be taken down. All Downward
Gate Planet This planet is a replica of the Gate of the Comet Observatory in the first Super Mario Galaxy. A 1-Up Mushroom can be found behind the house. The Perfect Run Downward
