Topminis take their name from the prefix mini-, from the Latin word minus, which means "small." The prefix is changed to a suffix to form a pun on Topman.

Nomenclature[]

Topminis are implied to be babies due to their name translations, with the Japanese translation being Bebī Begoman (written ベビーベーゴマン), with Begoman being the name of the regular Topman and Bebī coming from English "baby." Spanish calls the enemy Nenetrompo, from nene (a synonym of infante ("baby")) and trompo (a synonym of peón ("top")). In Italian, the Topmini is called Robinfante, from roboto ("robot") and infante ("baby"). German calls the enemy Mini-Begoman, with Mini- coming from Latin minus, like with the English name.
