Description	Accelerates Special trigger (cooldown count-1). At start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+X to unit (X = 25% of foe's Atk at start of combat, - 4; max 14; min 5), neutralizes effects that inflict "Special cooldown charge -X" on unit, reduces the percentage of foe's non-Special "reduce damage by X%" skills by 50% (excluding area- of-effect Specials), and grants Special cooldown count-1 to unit before foe's first attack during combat. At start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, reduces damage from foe's attacks by Y during combat (when foe's attack triggers foe's Special, Y = 16; when foe's attack does not trigger foe's Special, Y = 8; excluding area-of-effect Specials), and unit's next attack deals damage = total damage reduced from foe's first attack (by any source, including other skills). Resets at end of combat.

Notes[ | ]

• The stat increase that can be applied by Caladbolg is considered a temporary buff.
• A stat comparison made "At start of combat" ignores temporary buffs and temporary debuffs.
  • Temporary buffs and temporary debuffs from skills such as Death Blow and  Rauðrfox+ will not affect the outcome.
  • Only stat boosts outside of combat, such as  Bonuses and  Penalties, will affect the outcome.
• Caladbolg will neutralize the "Special cooldown charge -X" effect on unit from effects such as  Guard Sword+,  Guard, or 【Divine Vein (Green)】.
  • Since the "Special cooldown charge -X" effect will be neutralized on unit, Caladbolg will also stack with the "Special cooldown charge +X" effect on unit from effects such as  Heavy Blade 4,  Special Cooldown Charge +1, or the Grand Conquests  Infantry area effect, unless the foe is equipped with skills that neutralize the "Special cooldown charge +X" effect on unit.
• Caladbolg will reduce the effect of non-Special "reduces damage by X%" effects from Specials such as  Vital Astra.
  • Damage-reduction reducing effects stack multiplicatively, unlike interactions related to the weapon-triangle, such as  Triangle Adept and the weapon-triangle advantage boost.
    • For example, if a unit has  Halves non-Special damage reduction and a foe with  Dodge is on a space with 【Divine Vein (Water)】, the maximum total damage-reduction is reduced to 10%, since the two effects reduce the damage to (1 − ((40% − 50%) − 50%)) = 90% of the original damage instead of 60% of the original damage.
  • Each damage-reduction effect is reduced individually.
    • For example, if a unit has  Halves non-Special damage reduction and the foe has both  Spurn 4 and  Dodge, the maximum total damage-reduction is reduced to 40%, since the two effects reduce the damage to (1 − (50% − 50%)) × (1 − (40% − 50%)) = 60% of the original damage instead of 30% of the original damage.
  • Caladbolg will not reduce the effect of Special "reduces damage by X%" effects such as  Gust or  Laguz Friend 4.

• Caladbolg's Special cooldown count reduction that occurs during combat is a flat -1 and is not affected by effects related to Special cooldown charge such as  Guard,  Special Cooldown Charge +1, and  Spd/Def Tempo 4.
  • All flat cooldown count increases and/or reductions during combat will stack with each other if they trigger at the same time.
    • For example, if a unit with Special trigger acceleration has  Rally Spectrum and  Hush Spectrum, the effects will stack and the unit's cooldown count will not increase or decrease.

• The damage-reduction effect is calculated after offensive Specials, damage boosting effects such as  Arcane Lúin and  Dominance, and "reduces damage by X%" effects such as  Gust and  Dodge.
  • If a skill such as  Miracle or  Everliving Domain can trigger, the damage-reduction effect will not trigger and the user will still survive with only 1 HP.
  • Flat damage-reduction effects stack additively, similar to interactions related to the weapon-triangle, such as  Triangle Adept and the weapon-triangle advantage boost.
  • Flat damage-reduction effects cannot be neutralized or reduced by effects such as  Share Spoils or  Halves non-Special damage reduction.

  • Effects that neutralize or reduce non-Special "reduces damage by X%" effects will also affect Caladbolg's damage boosting effect.

• The damage boosting effect of Caladbolg ignores the foe's Def or Res when calculating the damage boost, and can be reduced by damage-reduction effects such as  Gust,  Atk/Spd Excel, and  Dodge.
  • A foe equipped with  Embla's Ward,  Múspellflame,  Niðavellir Axiom, or  Gold Perfection will neutralize all sources of damage during combat except the minimum 1 damage from Umbra Burst weapons.

  • Caladbolg's damage boosting effect calculates the damage boost based on the total damage-reduction from all damage-reduction effects active on the unit including:
    • Damage-reduction from ally skills such as  Domain of Ice and  Caduceus Staff.
    • Damage-reduction from Divine Vein and terrain effects.
    • Flat damage-reduction from effects such as  Atk/Spd Excel and  Shield Fighter.
    • "Unit survives with 1 HP" effects such as  Miracle and  Everliving Domain.
  • "Unit survives with 1 HP" effects will affect the calculation of the damage boosting effect = the total damage from the foe's damage (including calculations with specials) -1.
    • For example, if a foe triggering  Glimmer deals 45 damage, and a skill such as  Miracle or  Everliving Domain would be triggered by that foe's attack, the damage boost for the unit's next attack would be 44 damage.
  • If Caladbolg triggers multiple times during combat, all reduced damage is accumulated up to the unit's next attack, and resets to 0 at the end of combat. If the unit cannot counterattack the damage boosting effect will not trigger.
