A collection of the orders by which various aspects of the game are sorted. All games have everything in an internal order, but if that is never interacted with in any standard form, then it is not listed. Chapter orders are additionally unlisted, as those are by a strict number and are quite obvious.

Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light

Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light does not allow for sorting of any style; it does have an internal order for classes and items that is followed by the class roll and battle test.

No unused item appears in-game except for the Helarn staff, which appears during the battle test. Items are sorted with their type (e.g. swords or stones); all items of a particular type are listed before any items of another. E.g. All swords are listed before any bows; the Falchion is listed internally, followed by the Lance, and so-on.

Genealogy of the Holy War

Genealogy of the Holy War's unit preview allows for the sorting of units by particular categories: sorting by name, class, or equipment provides a unique order. Scrolling through characters at the stat screen and on the map also each provides a unique order.

Work in progress

Characters are always sorted in this order. R-scrolling and name sorting appears to be unaffected by recruitment order, as Ayra always comes before Adean and Lewyn when R-scrolling and Lewyn always comes before Lachesis in name order.

Map scrolling is the only sort order in which child units and their substitutes sort in a different order, as the units Seliph to Larcei (all units subject to inheritance) sort before units Oifey through Finn, including substitutes such as Tristan and Jeanne (all units unaffected by Inheritance). All units group with their sibling with the male in front, with the exception of Seliph and Julia; the latter sorts with other non-child units as she is not subject to inheritance.

Wip

Sorting by skill sorts by number of skills, not any particular internal order. Nor, for that matter, does it take into account skills granted by equipment, as those are not considered skills per se.

Additionally, when two or more units would have equal sorting order (e.g. two cavaliers, three units with iron lances), units first in the current order are placed above units in the new order. For instance, sorting by name gives the order Sigurd, Naoise, Alec, Arden; sorting by class afterward would give Naoise, Alec, Sigurd, Arden. Reverse-sorting by name orders Arden, Alec, Naoise, Sigurd; then sorting by class gives Alec, Naoise, Sigurd, Arden.

All equipment can be viewed in the Items menu and sorted by name, bearer, and type; items in storage have an icon next to them and are sorted as normal in the menu. The listings of stores and storage are identical except for equipment. Items are sorted by type before being sorted within the type; the above table splits the types into their own sub-tables.

Broken equipment is placed above the rest of its respective item (e.g. a broken Iron Sword would appear before three other Iron Swords, a broken Steel Bow would appear in between an Iron Bow and another Steel Bow).

Three Houses

Houses and routes

In all menus, the houses are listed as Black Eagles → Blue Lions → Golden Deer; this can be seen as well in the standard character sort order as well.

In the event viewer, the routes are listed in the order of Silver Snow → Azure Moon → Verdant Wind → Crimson Flower.

Characters

There are multiple different sort orders depending on the route. The "default" order can be viewed in the roster prior to picking a house, in the support viewer in the Extras menu were it includes Rhea and Sothis, or by sorting by name in the unit information table available during a battle or preparations. The class order can be viewed in most menus outside of battle or pertaining to supports.

Byleth can only appear as either a male or female in a save file, but they are sorted differently in the support viewer, and for convenience they are sorted as such in every order.

If someone is recruited to the player's house, they are listed above recruited characters in normal order. E.g. Recruiting Marrainne to the Blue Lions lists her between Ingrid and Edelgard; recruiting Caspar then lists him between Ingrid and Marianne.
