Cloud Drops (also called Wind Drops) are air-based enemies featured in several Yoshi platforming games. They first appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

In Yoshi's Island series[]

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island[]

In the original game and its remake Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, they are found in skies commonly moving either horizontally or vertically in straight lines in the air. Cloud Drops are frequently seen in areas that have a Yoshi Helicopter serving as an obstacle to avoid and if Yoshi hits one, he is sent very far down and it is often very difficult to recover, fortunately, Yoshi can easily beat a Cloud Drop with stomps or by tossing an egg at them. Yoshi can also swallow a Cloud Drop and from there can eat it to turn it into an egg or spit it back out, either way, the Cloud Drop will be defeated, later levels of the game also introduce a fiery version of the Cloud Drop called the Lava Drop, the Lava Drops are invincible for the most part and Yoshi's direct attacks cannot destroy them.

Yoshi Touch & Go[]

Cloud Drops reappear as a primary enemy found throughout several levels, they behave the same as they did before.

Yoshi's Island DS[]

Cloud Drops return with a similar role as before. Their moveset and method of defeating them remains the same, although during the Helicopter sections, Cloud Drops aren't anywhere near as dangerous as they don't knock Yoshi down as tremendously. Lava Drops are absent in this game and the Cloud Drops take their place in the latter levels. Cloud Drops are seen in the Island Museum, in the Airborne Enemy Exhibit, where they appear after Yoshi throws an egg at one.

Yoshi's New Island[]

Cloud Drops return as enemies. They have the same role, moveset, and method of being defeat, and Cloud Drops have the added ability to move longer.

Trivia[]

  • Cloud Drops look similar to Gusties, another Yoshi enemy, as both are air-based creatures that fly around.
