Chomp Shark is a giant variant of a Chomp featured in the Yoshi's Island series. It made its first appearance in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

Behavior[]

Their behavior is to repeatedly gnash their jaws, hence having the word "shark" in their name, while traveling in a set course after a Yoshi. Due to the large size of a Chomp Shark, a Yoshi cannot backtrack while he is being chased, otherwise he loses a life. At the end of the path is a hard platform for the Yoshi to jump onto. While a Chomp Shark can eat through soft ground, the platform is too hard for it to bite into. Therefore, when a Chomp Shark does bite into the platform, its two largest teeth on its upper jaw crack, causing the Chomp Shark to let out a tear in pain and collapse.

In Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island[]
