Welcome to Yoshi Tower! is the secret stage of World 1 in Yoshi's Island DS, a Black Yoshi takes control in this level. This level is unlocked after At Last, Bowser's Castle! is completed. The level consists of a tower filled with many traps and enemies alongside rising lava below. The level's background is the same as the one seen in Castle of Big Guy the Stilted consisting of many Shy Guys living in a metropolis of shelves. Despite the level's name, Yoshis do not populate the place and actually, enemies of Yoshi seem to populate the place instead.

Walkthrough[]

Note: before starting this level, it is highly recommended to stock up on Red Yoshi Eggs from another level (these can be earned by ricocheting a Yoshi Egg of a wall twice and then grabbing the red egg with Yoshi's tongue or by hitting a Red Egg Block) as the level contains only four Winged Clouds with Stars (which totals the count to exactly 30) meaning you will have to make it through the level without getting hit once, on top of all that, there are no Middle Rings in this level so if you die anywhere in this level, you are going all the way back to the beginning.

Starting off the level, advance to the right and hop up to the upper platforms, (throughout the entire level, you are required to keep moving as the lava below is rising and slowly consuming the entire level) and use your red eggs on the Shy Guys and Crazee Dayzees along the path (you get two Stars for every enemy hit (this can be multiplied if two enemies are amongst eachother and are hit simultaneously) once done, you should have at least 22 Stars), anyway, get the Coins and use the Stork Stop to switch out your baby (if need be) and then continue along the path, hit one of the Winged Clouds for some Stars, next hit the Expanding Block to reach the upper platforms and hit the Winged Cloud for some Coins, climb the stairs, ground pound the dirt to reach some Coins, two Red Coins are stashed here, toss an egg at the Smiley Flower here and quickly return to the main path, hop up to the upper path and destroy the Bandit that comes after you as you collect the Red Coins and Coins here, hit the green Arrow Block at the end to flip the Flipping Platforms around and the hit the red Arrow Block to flip the red Flipping Platform, hit the green Arrow Block to flip the next green Flipping Platform and continue climbing, break away the Thorns blocking the path up ahead and switch out to Baby Peach with the next Stork Stop and use the wind to glide up and get the Coins, two Red Coins, and a Smiley Flower at the top (the left path is infested with Pike Guys and the right path has some fast vertical-moving Flatbed Ferries), after gliding, use the green Flatbed Ferry from the right side to leap up to the next platform, there are several Bill Blasters that fire Bullet Bills here, avoid the Bullet Bills and move to the left ledge (with the Bill Blaster at the end) and launch an egg at the two Red Coins off the edge, after this, climb up and grab two Red Coins from the Coin line here, then hop on a Bullet Bill and use it to propel to the higher platforms, from here, toss an egg at the Baron Von Zeppelin above carrying a Spring Ball (if you're short on eggs, just swallow some Shy Guys that endlessly spawn from the Pipe, after this, use the Spring Ball to spring to the upper platforms whilst avoiding the spinning Podoboo Cogs.

Upon reaching the higher platform, advance to the left to obtain the Smiley Flower on the outside and return to the main path, the right side also has a Winged Cloud containing a 1-Up but getting this one is risky, if you start to see the lava, just keep moving, from here, jump on the One-Jump Platforms and move across them (be sure not to use them all up as they don't repspawn upon disappearing and if you suddenly slip off, there's no way back up so play it safe when crossing them), the two lowest, singular One-Jump Platforms have two Red Coins on them so you can net a total of four Red Coins here. Next, you will come across two paths divided by walls, the first path is filled with Tap-Taps and a Wild Ptooie Piranha while the second path is filled with Spear Guys and Piranha Plants, you're going to want to take the right path (with the Spear Guys) as there are two Red Coins in a niche which can be obtained with an egg toss but you can still cross over from the left path to the right by destroying the dirt wall blockage halfway. Upon reaching the upper platforms, you will see Shy Guys hopping out of the Pipe, destroy the Thorns blocking the path forward with eggs and continue upward, cross to the left collecting the Coins, you will see another Smiley Flower here but watch out for the two Dizzy Dandies which cleverly disguise themselves as one, grab the Flower and flutter across to the platform (collecting the Coins and Red Coin), if you can't make the jump, bounce off one of the respawning Dizzy Dandies for some extra height. Once done, jump to the higher platforms.

In the next area, you will see a massively long Ball 'n' Chain spinning around along the small platforms but as if that's not enough, there is also an onslaught of Gusties coming from each direction as well as Flightless Goonies on the floor, amongst all the Coins by each small platform here, two of them are Red Coins and both are on the right side (it's easier to toss an egg at the Coins from below to obtain them but be quick about it), avoid the hazards as you reach the highest platforms, Goonies will start flying into view, you can use them to reach the two Winged Clouds on either side of the top here, (both contain Stars) and after collecting these, either bounce off the Shy Guy on the highest platform or hitch a ride from a Goonie to reach the upper platform. Here, you will see a Winged Cloud, grab the Yoshi Egg here and hit the Winged Cloud to make a ! Switch appear, hit the switch to form some stairs to reach the higher platform, jump on the Spring Ball to reach the top, move to the left ledge and hop up to reveal an invisible Winged Cloud, hit it to get some more Stars, after this, jump on the ferris wheels (while avoiding the Spikes) grab the Smiley Flower and jump across the two ferris wheels bounce off the Zeus Guys heads to reach the door at the end to escape the gauntlet.

Upon exiting the dangerous tower, you will be at the level's end, wait for the Fly Guy to come into view as it is carrying a Red Coin, beat the Fly Guy to obtain it's Red Coin and then jump through the GOAL! Ring to finish the level.

This level is often cited as one of the examples of so-called "Platform Hell", which is essentially an even harder version of "Nintendo Hard", meant to punish and frustrate the player.
The Shy Guys in the background of this level seem as though they are doing the following:
- Learning how to use the Stilts.
- Talking to each other.
- Climbing ladders (it appears that this is the way they travel around the castle).
- Washing their wet clothes.
- Studying on how Yoshi attacks and who he is.
- Growing Piranha Plants.
- Sleeping
