Super Mario Mario & Luigi

Li'l Sparkies, alternatively spelled Lil' Sparky or Lil Sparky, are a recurring enemy in the Mario franchise. They first appear in Super Mario World.

Profile[]

Physical description[]

Li'l Sparkies are small, electrical creatures.

Behavior[]

Li'l Sparkies behave similarly to Sparks in that they circle around platforms, but Li'l Sparkies are not a variant of them.

In Super Mario series[]

Super Mario World[]

Li'l Sparkies first appear in Super Mario World, in this game, they can be found in various Castles such as Wendy's Castle and Bowser's Castle. Li'l Sparkies move along the surfaces of thin platforms and like Boos are completely invincible to all attacks and can only be beaten with the effects of a Starman. Larger variations of Li'l Sparkies called Hotheads also appear commonly appearing in the same levels as the Li'l Sparkies.

Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3[]

Li'l Sparkies appear in Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 in the e-Reader levels, Swinging Bars of Doom and A Sky-High Adventure. They act the same as in Super Mario World, but Li'l Sparkies can now also be defeated by Statue Mario, and by Hammer Mario's hammers in addition to the effects of a Starman.

In Paper Mario[]

Main article: Watt

A young Li'l Sparky named Watt is one of Mario's partners. Watt is the sixth partner to join Mario. She joins him in Shy Guy's Toy Box.

In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga / Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions[]

Li'l Sparkies excluisively appear in the pseudo-side scrolling areas where Presenters can be found. They act as obstacles for Mario or Luigi to avoid as they navigate the area. In addition to moving along platforms, Li'l Sparkies can also float around the air or bounce along the floor in a similar fashion to a Superball (only slower), if the plumbers are hit by a Li'l Sparky instead of being dragged into a battle, they are sent back to the starting point of the section.

In Super Princess Peach[]

Li'l Sparkies return as enemies, they appear in various levels of Shriek Mansion and Bowser's Villa. The first level where Li'l Sparkies appear is Shriek Mansion 3-3.

Li'l Sparkies retain their behavior of moving along the surfaces of platforms. In this game, Li'l Sparkies are completely invincible and cannot be destroyed in any way, so a Li'l Sparky is added to a Glossary merely from being encountered. The only way Princess Peach can deal with a Li'l Sparky is by avoiding them altogether. Hotheads also return in this game as well.

Trivia[]

  • Li'l Sparkies could be related to Podoboos as they have slightly similar appearances, are invincible to most attacks, and don't intentionally try to attack Mario. Both Podoboos and Li'l Sparkies appear in the same section of the Glossary in Super Princess Peach.
