Super Koopas are a variant of Beach Koopas which wear a cape. They make their first appearance in Super Mario World.

Super Koopas are first encountered by Mario and Luigi in the level Donut Plains 1, and they also appear in two other levels, Butter Bridge 2 and Funky. A Super Koopa can have one of four different behaviors, depending on the color of their cape and shoes, although Super Koopas with red shoes always wear a yellow cape, Super Koopas with green shoes always wear a red cape, and Super Koopas with blue shoes wear either a yellow cape or a flashing cape. All Super Koopa variants turn into a Beach Koopa upon being jumped on, but can otherwise be defeated instantly. Defeating a Super Koopa earns the player 200 points.
Super Koopas with red shoes swoop down at Mario or Luigi whenever they get near before rising back up. Super Koopas with green shoes have the same behavior, and are the least common out of the four types. Super Koopas with blue shoes start off on the ground before taking off and flying forward in a straightforward pattern, regardless of which type of cape they wear, although if Mario or Luigi jumps on one wearing a flashing cape, it becomes a Cape Feather separate from the Super Koopa.
In Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2, Super Koopas with green shoes and a yellow cape appear in an additional cutscene shown after clearing all 96 exits.
