Mysterious Mine Carts is a minigame which appears in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and its Nintendo 3DS remake Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions. It takes place in Hoohoo Mountain.

Gameplay[]

In this minigame, Mario and Luigi must collect diamonds while riding mine carts along a set of tracks. All of Mario's track is visible, but only a small portion of Luigi's is, which is lit up by a flashlight. Mario and Luigi are required to complete this minigame (by collecting ten diamonds) during their first trip down Hoohoo Mountain to gain access to the rest of Beanbean Kingdom. After this, the minigame is available with added difficulty for Hee Beans, with the number of diamonds needed increasing.

Mario and Luigi can get their carts to jump by pressing and . Mario also uses to show Luigi's path with a flashlight.

In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions[]

Mysterious Mine Carts reappear in the remake of Superstar Saga. In the 3DS version, the tracks looked more like railroad tracks than in the GBA version. Minecarts are brown instead of gray. The stalactites are colored purple instead of brown.
