Statue Mario is a form that Mario takes on upon acquiring a Statue Leaf or from using a Tanooki Suit. The form first appears in Super Mario Bros. 3.
In Super Mario Bros. 3[]
When the player gets the power-up, Mario turns into a statue. Luigi also can use it.
In Super Mario 3D Land[]
It also appeared in Super Mario 3D Land. Both Mario and Luigi can attain this form, but the player needs to get a Statue Leaf. Mario or Luigi can turn into a statue if the player presses 
or 
, while jumping in a similar fashion to do a Ground Pound. While in this form, Mario/Luigi will be invincible to most obstacles and will be able to defeat enemies that cannot normally be defeated if the player slams down on them from above. Also, Mario will be able to fool enemies into thinking he isn't actually there by turning into a statue to avoid damage.
