Mario & Luigi

"For you I have kept waiting... and waiting... and waiting! In fact, the last time anyone came through here was... 3000 years ago!"
—The Fire God admits to have waited very long for guests to come through his domain.
"Perhaps you have the qualities needed to master the galvanic Thunderhand technique."
—The Thunder God relents and lets Luigi learn the Thunderbrand.

The Fire and Thunder Gods (or the Fire Master and Thunder Master as they are referred to in Japan) are minor characters that appear in the game Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. The two make their debut after Mario and Luigi crash-land at Oho Oasis following their battle with Popple and an amnesiac Bowser over the Beanstar; there, Mario and Luigi can find them in the Fire and Thunder Palaces, and the two teach Mario and Luigi how to use the Firebrand and Thunderhand techniques.

Profile[]

Fire God[]

Sungod

The Fire God is the nicer and more forgetful of the two. He resides in the Fire Palace on the left side of Oho Oasis. Once the Fire God saw how Mario gained the power of the Firebrand, the Fire God was more than happy to teach Mario. After that, the Fire God goes back to his rest.

The Fire God has a sun-shaped head with a green face, yellow eyes with black pupils that fill close to the entirety of his eyes, and red lips. Red spikes with yellow tips ring the rim of his head akin to a Lion's mane; this is to represent the sun's rays, with his face acting as the sun itself. His robe has red linings.

Thunder God[]

Thundergod

The Thunder God is the meaner and more impatient of the two. He resides in the Thunder Palace on the right side of Oho Oasis. Once he first saw Luigi hiding in fear, the Thunder God was disappointed and wanted Luigi to leave. However, Luigi ends up touching the orb and gains the Thunderhand technique. After seeing Luigi's courage, the Thunder God then teaches Luigi how to use the technique. After it has been done, the Thunder God goes back to his rest.

The Thunder God looks like the Fire God, but the linings on his robes are blue, and instead of red spikes, his head is surmounted by a pair of blue horns with yellow tips akin to a crescent moon. The left horn appears slightly bigger than the right one.
