Lily pads are plants that float on the surface of water and can support the weight of leaders and Pikmin. They move along with the water's current, and in closed bodies of water, they move on a set path or remain stationary.

The lily pads return in Pikmin 2... Again?. Like in Pikmin 3, they move with the water's current, and Pikmin and leaders can ride on them. They are present in the predominantly flooded sublevels of the Serene Pond, where they are used extensively to navigate. Additionally, the Froggy Long Legs walks on only lily pads and can stamp on them to temporarily sink them into the water.

In Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers, lily pads are indicated as being the leaves of a white water-lily plant, going by their scientific name. Beyond lily pads, there are some other functional variants, such as miniature ice floes in Torrential Igloo, and slabs of igneous that float across flowing lava in Angler Underworld. Stationary lily pads also function as platforms in some areas.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “A species of flowering lotus that grows in the water. Their leaves grow flat on the surface of the water, and provide shelter for amphitubers, elips, purselips, and various other species of aquatic life. Their leaves have a tendency to snap off and float across the current. Where they're taken to is anyone's guess.
And on a side note, I'm slightly put off by the look of their seed pods. However, it's nowhere near as bad as the Hocotate Ship's aversion to it.”
Louie's notes
- “This plant's starchy bulb has many versatile uses. Moreso, the leaves make for a good substitute for most other leafy greens, offering use as a topping or edible wrap.”
Ship's comments
- “Elegant as they may look, these plants hold a dark secret: their seed pods are UGLY!!!”
