The Puffy Blubbug is an enemy in Pikmin: Interstellar Cryptid. It resembles its Hey! Pikmin incarnation. The Puffy Blubbug only appears in certain cliffside areas of the Plateau of Eternity. These stretches of land overlook vast pits that would be dangerous to fall into. While the squad is nearby, Puffy Blubbugs will begin to fall from above, their impending collision marked by a growing shadow on the ground. When they land, their bodies will stretch outwards, bumping all leaders and Pikmin away as they bounce into the abyss. They must simply be avoided to ensure they don't knock anything into the pits as well. Due to this, they are added to the Piklopedia as soon as their territory is entered, with no need to actually interact with them.

Notes

Olimar's notes

Bumbling in nature, the ever-puffy blubbug has little means of locomotion. Lacking conventional ambulatory structures, they contract elastic ligaments in their body and rapidly expand them afterward, causing a recoil effect that bounces them along thanks to their immense girth. They have often been found bouncing down perilous terrain like cliffs and gorges in order to build up momentum. They are fine doing this so long as they don't suffer a significant head injury.

Louie's notes

The meat underneath all that padding is stringy and vaguely bitter. Tastes good when dipped in a piping hot cheese fondue, especially after a long night of skiing or being trapped in the mountains. Comfort food at its finest...

Bentley's notes

It takes a significant amount of cool to hurdle yourself off into the wild red yonder, and furthermore, it takes a significant amount of control in order to maintain this cool when under pressure. A master of these two principles, the life of a puffy blubbug remains hunky dory even directly in the face of danger.

Eloise's notes

I've... I've always wanted to try out a winter sport, but my fears of avalanches and wipeouts always ate me up. But this creature has it all covered. And since it's so warm and huggable, I think I might try to hitch a ride on its back just to feel what it's like, to live...
