A clog is an obstacle that resembles a cracked rock, blocks some cave entrances or other holes in those caves, and plugs holes underwater so that areas remain flooded. They can be destroyed with Pikmin; often, only Blue Pikmin are able to approach them due to them being submerged. By destroying an underwater clog, a hole is uncovered, draining the water from the surrounding area.

Clogs return in Pikmin 2... Again?, where they cover holes for bodies of water they rest in to drain into. However, they no longer block the entrances to caves or their sublevels, with that role being taken by golden locks and chains; this is due to how cave holes function as they do in Pikmin 4.

Clogs are a returning obstacle in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. Clogs are found around pools of water, or blocking the entrance to a flooded cave. They can even be found near pools of oil or lava. The respective Pikmin type can enter the pool and destroy the clog, and upon doing so it will break open and completely drain the fluid in the surrounding area. Once drained, Pikmin can enter the areas where the pool once was, and enemies like Puckering Blinnows and Splattering Wogpoles will be beached.

In Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers, a clog can be found on the seabed of Creature's Quay. Destroying it, with Blue Pikmin, will drain the normally changing water levels to a point where all Pikmin can cross any pathway in the area.
