Whip seeds are items that, when used, coil Pikmin's stems, allowing them to be extended to attack over a longer range and inflicting more damage. Whip seed Pikmin are thrown farther than normal Pikmin and home in on targeted areas and enemies. Pikmin players that collect a whip seed undergo similar physical changes and have their attack range increased dramatically.

Effects | Allows the cultivation of whip nectar |
The Whip Seed is a species of power pod appearing in Pikmin: Neo. It is a long, string-like bud inside a small purple flower and ends in a small green leaf. Found in humid areas such as jungles and savannas these buds are usually found in small groups. They can be harvested and then cultivated into a substance called whip nectar, a pink, honey-like substance that elongates the flowers of Pikmin into whip-like appendages. When applied, the new leaves temporarily grant them strong homing abilities and allow two to be thrown simultaneously, but this comes at the cost of having their attack power halved. This nectar is best used when attacking multiple small enemies, as the homing capabilities and increased Pikmin throw rate quickly overwhelm them.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “Due to living in places with thick foliage, these plants developed longer flowers to be able to maximize sun intake. When it gets enough sun, it coils the flower in a spring-like structure that builds up pollen. When fully matured, it releases this pollen like a spring, spreading it to other areas.”
Louie's notes
- “When dried, it makes a deep spice with a smooth and nutty texture. When curled up, it can also be boiled to make a hearty broth.”
