The Storming Blowhog is a species of airborne blowhog in Pikmin Ultimate X. It is closely related to the Puffy Blowhog. Unlike its harmless cousin, it can project bolts of lightning from its trunk. It has cells called electrolytes that can build up electricity. They cannot control how the electricity is expelled from their bodies, so it ejects lightning in catastrophic blasts. Its entire body pulses with electricity, and its spines resemble lightning bolts. Because it is so galvanic, it is required to use Yellow Pikmin.

The Thunderous Blowhog is an enemy in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf's Withered Remnant DLC. The creature resembles most larger airborne blowhogs, like the Puffy Blowhog. It has a rotund, balloon-shaped body with black and yellow striped skin, a snout at the front, and two small flippers. Numerous yellow, sharp spikes protrude from the top of the blowhog.
The Thunderous Blowhog will float around idly until it spots Pikmin. It will then float over and position itself in front of the Pikmin so it can perform its attack. The blowhog will then inhale and release a large discharge of electricity from its snout. The large explosion from the thunderbolt can kill non-Yellow Pikmin. However, Yellow Pikmin will still be knocked back and deflowered from the thunder blast. Along with shooting lightning, whenever the Thunderous Blowhog shakes off Pikmin, it will release small sparks of electricity that non-lethally shock and stun Pikmin.
Thunderous Blowhogs are very large and have a lot of health, so they can be difficult to take down due to their deadly attacks. Using Yellow Pikmin or Iguana Pikmin to attack the blowhog can help minimize Pikmin casualties. Winged Pikmin can also attack the Thunderous Blowhog without having to be thrown. Purple Pikmin and Weighted Pikmin can also be used to instantly weigh down the blowhog.
In Overlord mode, Thunderous Blowhogs will also spit out a furious gust of wind along with shooting lightning, causing Pikmin to be flung around and shocked by electricity.

- “Thunderous Blowhogs have the ability to create electrical charges using a gland located within their body that can produce electrical surges. Strangely enough, this electrical gland can also produce wind like its counterpart, the Puffy Blowhog. Thunderous Blowhogs don’t seem to utilize this ability as much, because as it turns out, zapping your prey with a thousand volts is better than blowing air on them.”

The Overcharge Blowhog is a galvanic relative of the Puffy Blowhog appearing in Pikmin: Sinister Incinerator. Similarly to the relationship between the Fiery Blowhog and the Watery Blowhog, the Overcharge Blowhog is a creature that not only uses an electric current to keep its body stable for its floating hydrogen-air sac but can also release highly ionized air that reacts upon exiting the blowhog's snout, resulting in a blast of lightning. The Puffy Blowhog lost that ability, similarly to how the Watery Blowhog's chemicals fail to combust upon exiting the creature's snout. Overcharge Blowhogs are striped black and yellow and are slightly larger than Puffy Blowhogs. They still bear spines, and the electricity imbued in the creature makes it an interesting, flashy sight to see. Keep all Pikmin other than Yellow Pikmin far away from this enemy, as it has the capacity to smite them all in a single attack.

- “This creature has a supernatural ability to collect hydride. The Puffy Blowhog, in contrast, mostly stores the more stable molecular hydrogen. It is currently believed that the extra electrons required to keep hydride stable in a gaseous solution come from the concentrated prevalence of bases to acids in the environment. This effectively makes the Overcharge Blowhog a concentrated mass of electrons. The electrons can be forced out in one of two ways. The first is by its breathing; the ions escape, release electrons at any fluorine, oxygen, or nitrogen atoms nearby, and quickly combine with another hydrogen atom to become molecular hydrogen. The other way is by making the surroundings more acidic; the electrons will be pulled from the blowhog to the acid and both the blowhog and the environment will neutralize. Beautiful yet dangerous arcs of electricity will ensue.”
