Lynn L. Loud, Sr. (credited as "Dad") is the father of the Loud children and husband of Rita. He is a supporting character in The Loud House and a minor character in The Casagrandes.
Born in Royal Woods, Lynn Sr. lived with his mother, his father Leonard and his brother Lance.
When Lynn Sr. was in preschool, he was upstaged during show and tell by another student named Billy Donovan who brought in a talking parrot.
During Lynn Sr.'s childhood, his father Leonard supposedly played favorites with his sons which led to years of sibling rivalry between Lynn Sr. and Lance. Every year during the summer, Lynn Sr. would go to Camp Mastodon with his father where they both zip lined, went for swims and attended the three-legged race and was also Flip's bunkmate. Lynn Sr. attended Royal Woods Middle School and learned how to make unique dishes with his home economics teacher. On his 12th birthday, Lynn Sr. was handed down the very first David Steele comic book from his father, Leonard who got it from his father as well.
Every year during the holidays, Leonard would take Lynn Sr. and Lance with him to cut down a Christmas tree which often led to disastrous mishaps, much to his sons' amusement.
During his time in college, Lynn Sr. was in a band with his roommates but was kicked out due to playing his cowbell too much even when they weren't practicing.
Sometime after finishing his college semester in London, England, Lynn Sr. caught the attention of Rita who was working as a crossing guard at Royal Woods Elementary School. Because Rita was too shy to speak to him directly, she would secretly slip love notes into his pocket whenever he passed by until one day when Lynn Sr. passed by the crossing again, Rita this time gave him a note asking him out on a date to Banger's and Mosh. A year after dating, Lynn Sr. proposed to Rita during autumn and they both got married. On his wedding day, Lynn Sr.'s father handed down Vanzilla to him as a wedding gift and was also given a vase from an unidentified person.
Lynn Sr. and Rita bought and moved into a house together on Franklin Avenue where Rita got pregnant for the first time with their daughter Lori. During Lori's infancy, Lynn Sr. and Rita almost ended up not having anymore kids due to their baby daughter's toy Fenton the Feel Better Fox driving them crazy. They eventually hid the toy fox in the attic around the time their second daughter Leni was born. Over the three following years, Lynn Sr. and Rita had three more girls; Luna, Luan and Lynn (who he named after him).
Two years after their fifth daughter Lynn was born, Lynn Sr. and Rita had their first and only son Lincoln who was born in the president's limousine due to Vanzilla breaking down on a roadside on the way to the hospital. In the following years, they had more daughters; Lucy, twins Lana and Lola, Lisa and Lily having eleven kids in total.
Sometime after Lisa's birth on Christmas Eve night while the Loud kids and their cousins were asleep, Lynn Sr. participated in a white elephant gift along with Rita, his father Leonard, brother Lance and sister-in-law, Sharon. Lynn Sr. opened a new spatula, however in spite of this, Lance took the spatula for himself much to Lynn Sr.'s chargin. After Lynn Sr. accidentally popped Lance's excercise ball, the two Loud brothers got into a heated argument and vowed to never see each other for the following Christmases which led to them faking injuries to avoid seeing each other for the holidays over the years. Five years later, Lynn Sr. and Lance set aside their differences to team up and rescue their kids from drowning in a frozen lake, putting an end to their feud.
In "Fed Up", it is revealed that Lynn Sr.'s astrological sign is Libra, which places his birthday somewhere between September 23 and October 22.
In "Home of the Fave", it is revealed that during Lynn Sr.'s childhood, his father, Leonard, played favorites with him and his siblings. Despite this, however, Leonard would always take Lynn Sr. on summer vacation to Camp Mastodon, as revealed in "Camped!"
On his 12th birthday, Leonard gave Lynn Sr. the first David Steele, who his grandfather gave it to Leonard when he was 12.
In "Small Blunder", it is revealed that during his childhood, he would frequently get upstaged during show-and-tell by another kid named Billy Donovan and his talking myna bird.
"Recipe for Disaster" reveals that, in middle school, Lynn Sr. learned cooking from his home-economics teacher, Mildred Scalise, who often collaborated with him and gave him some unique cooking tips. The two wrote down in every recipe they created in identical recipe books.
According to "Study Muffin" and "L is for Love", he spent a college semester in England, which made him love British culture and an Anglophile.
According to "House Music", he tried to play in a music band, but his bandmates kicked him out, because they did not like his cowbell playing.
According to "'Twas the Fight Before Christmas", he received a spatula but Lance took it and they bickered which cause Lynn sr. to break Lance’s ball. This caused the two to never see each other on Christmas for five years.
According to "L is for Love" and The Loud House Movie, he met Rita when he was walking through the street and they fell in love at first sight. Since she was too shy to directly talk to him, she slipped love letters to him whenever he passed by, eventually asking him out on a date at Banger's & Mosh.
Lynn Sr. wanted to be a chef, but to keep his wife and children fed and well, he worked as an IT specialist. He eventually quit that job in "Job Insecurity" and began working at the Aloha Comrade, where he initially worked as a dish-washer (a job he personally hated) before being promoted to co-chef. Several months later, he finally achieved his dream of opening his own restaurant, Lynn's Table, in "Cooked!"
Personality[]
Lynn Sr. is stern, and often calls a halt to his kids' fights, but he loves and cares about them. He also loves his wife, and often acts playfully romantic towards her. He has been shown to have a childlike side at times, even sometimes taking part in his kids' antics, when it's all in good fun. He's also the more sensitive of the two parents, often necessitating his wife and kids to step in whenever he needs to pull himself together.
On a side note, he seems to enjoy jokes and dancing. He is shown to dance on occasions in episodes such as "The Loudest Yard", "Ties That Bind", "Come Sale Away", "House Music", and "Lock 'n' Loud". It is mentioned in "A Tattler's Tale" that he won a dancing contest and received a disco ball that Lincoln broke. In addition, in "Sleuth or Consequences" he mentions enjoying karaoke. On occasion, he enjoys Luan's jokes, and tries making his own, which appeal to Luan as well, as shown in "Raw Deal".
He is also shown to be quite neurotic; as he screams and faints at the sight, sound, and idea of spiders, as well as Lana's mud wrestling, horror movies, and Halloween.
He has a habit of prefixing words with "ding-dang" when frustrated.
Nick Description[]
“
A fun-loving, upbeat chef and owner of the restaurant Lynn’s Table, the Loud’s dad is a sentimental kid at heart who’s not above getting in on his kids’ zany schemes. Constantly chauffeuring his family around in his trusty Vanzilla, Lynn Sr. also loves British culture and of course, dad jokes!
”

Appearance[]
Lynn Sr. is the tallest member of his family, with the closest to him in height being Rita, however, he is not the tallest number of his immediate family, with his brother Lance being notably taller than him.
He has a long pointy nose, forehead wrinkles, brown eyebrows and curly hair, that is thinning on the top.
He wears a sea green sweater over a light green checkered collar and cuffs, brown slacks and shoes.
In his youth, his hair was straighter and parted in the middle, and he wore a sea green sweater over a light green checkered collar and cuffs, brown slacks and shoes, and prior to meeting his wife, sported a mustache.
In "House Music", when he is playing the cowbell, he wears a yellow-striped shirt, and green pants with a rip that exposes his underwear.
In the series, his thinning hair always connects to his back hair, but in The Loud House Movie, there is a bald patch between them, which is only visible when he is viewed from the side; when viewed from the back, his thinning hair seems to connect to his back hair.
As of "The Weakest Ink", he has a cowbell and the Doo Dads tattooed on his arm.
Alter Egos[]
In the alternate universe Royal Woods (Time Trap!), after the Loud kids traveled back in time and ruined their parents' wedding, he and Rita decided not to have children and are living a wealthy lifestyle.
He is the only member of the Loud family whose voice actor also portrays him in The Really Loud House.
Lynn Sr.'s entire face was never shown during the first season. His face was revealed along with Rita's face in the Season 2 premiere.
He is the first character in the series, apart from Lincoln, to speak to the audience. This instance occurred at the end of "It's a Loud, Loud, Loud, Loud, House".
He used to be in a band, but got kicked out due to playing his cowbell too much, even when they were not practicing.[3]
Coconut milk and three-bean salads are bad for him because they cause him intestinal troubles (with the latter having triple the effect of the former.)[13]
The colors and styles of clothing that the Loud and McBride parents wear correspond with each other. Lynn Sr. and Harold both wear sweaters and brown loafer shoes. They also both have thinning hair.
Lynn Sr. is at least 40 years old.[14] He also claims to have been potty trained for 42 years, making him somewhere between 44 and 46.[15]
This also indicates that he was likely born sometime in the 1970s.
Lynn Sr. forbids Leni from getting her belly button pierced.[14]
His dream job is to be a chef, which was fulfilled in "Cooked!".[14]
He has a band with Kotaro called the Clang with Lynn Sr. on the cowbell and Kotaro on the keyboard.
He not only plays the cowbell, but he also plays the saxophone as seen in "Attention Deficit".
He thought that "menu" was spelled with a "y".[16]
In "Tripped!", it is revealed that he always carries his cowbell with him.
Lynn Sr. and Rita had to separate at least one point in their marriage, because he had infectious mononucleosis, which he contracted from a contaminated microphone.[17]
He believes singing while cooking improves his cooking, but it took him years to perfect his "cooking ditties".[20] In addition, he sometimes sings while doing activities unrelated to cooking, such as checking the mail and changing Lily's diaper.[21]
He has a tendency to lose consciousness when he is afraid. For instance, he spent most of Halloween unconscious due to his fear of the holiday,[22] and almost delivered Lincoln but he passed out before he was able.[23]
He is "sensitive" to raised voices, and if he would pick a superpower, it would be flight.[24]
In the Polish dub, his name is Henryk, and he is the senior of Lana (Henryka) instead of Lynn Jr (Helena).
Sometimes fear renders him unable to speak coherently, but Rita understands him nonetheless.[25]
The first dish he ever served someone else was linguini with clams, which he calls "Lynn-guini", and which is apparently famous among his family.[26]
Up until Season 5, none of his relatives from his side of the family physically appeared in episodes and only been seen in photos or flashbacks.
His father makes his first physical appearance in "Camped!" where his first name is revealed to be Leonard.
As of December 2024, it's unclear if any of Lynn Sr.'s other relatives besides Leonard and Lance are still alive or living in Royal Woods.
As a kid, he slightly resembled his daughter, Lynn Jr. possibly explaining why she was named after him.
As a child, he and his father would routinely go to a camp called Camp Mastodon, which is where Lynn Sr. learned to run, swim, use a zipline, and use Morse code (which he is not good at).[27]
His side of the family is descended from Scotland.[28]
He sometimes speaks in a British accent, which he learnt to do while taking a semester in England. Rita finds this accent cute.[29]
Although he went to Royal Woods Middle School,[34] it's currently unknown if he attended Royal Woods High School and Royal Woods Elementary School during his youth.
His favorite food that starts with W is waffles, his shoe size is 11, and he took father-daughter pole vaulting lessons with Lynn.[35]
He and Rita were given a vase on their wedding day, which their children have broken several times.[36]
So far he's the only character who had more than one birthday episode, although he technically celebrated his half-birthday in "The Macho Man with the Plan".
Rita knitted him a sweater for their first anniversary.[37]
Although his name is revealed, he is still referred to in most credits, episode and TV guides as "Dad".
He purchased an inflatable bounce castle on clearance for his children as a tradition when it's a Loud sibling's birthday which was originally used on the twins' sixth birthday.[38]
Lana describes him as having the "weakest stomach" out of the Louds.[39]
Among his ties are his first tie, a tie Rita considers "dumb", a "musical" one, one that he finds funny but Rita doesn't, one with hockey sticks, one with a white hare that he isn't sure he owns, a dark-colored one, a dirty one, a pink one that he dislikes, one that was a gift, and one that is the smallest in his collection.[40]
For the past five Christmases, he'd fake having a back injury to avoid seeing his brother, Lance. [41]
The first time he rode a Dairyland ride was the Barn of Horrors as a child.[42]
Lynn, Rita, Clyde and Lori are so far the only main characters to not have a solo song.
His favourite milestone in his kids' lives is their first taste of ice cream.[43]
