Haiku[]

Haiku is a recurring character in The Loud House. She's Lucy's best friend and co-president of the Morticians Club at Royal Woods Elementary and also a student in the school's writing club.

Biography[]

She first appears in the episode "Dance, Dance Resolution", in which Lucy tries to hook her up with Lincoln to have a date for the Sadie Hawkins Dance. When Ronnie Anne arrives unexpectedly, Lincoln tells his friends to cover for him, while he tries to escape. Clyde ends up hanging out with Haiku, confessing to her that his heart is for someone else. Likewise, Haiku confesses that she pines for a vampire who'd just turned 200. When Haiku finds out about Lincoln's plan, she admits that she had a better time hanging out with Clyde, as they bonded over their shared pain over loving someone who couldn't love them back. She's last seen slow dancing with Clyde, as both of them look at pictures of their respective crushes.

She returns in "Out of the Picture" as a member of the Morticians Club, along with Lucy.

In "Fandom Pains", Haiku, along with the other members of the Morticians Club, is angry about Tristan's sudden appearance in Vampires of Melancholia and collect signatures to remove him from the show.

In "Friendzy", Haiku is one of the many friends Lucy invites over.

In "The Write Stuff", she joins the writing club along with Lucy. Haiku went to Flip's Food & Fuel and wrote a poem about how the sour cherry and black licorice flippy mix reminded her of a sunset behind a cemetery and requested rhyming assistance from Lucy. Haiku escaped the school when Principal Huggins tried to shut down Rita's class and went to the coffee shop to express her true poetry. After Principal Huggins allowed Rita to keep her class, he had all the students ride an airplane with her, while learning about gerunds. Haiku suggested the gerund "hurdling", as the plane was hurdling toward the earth at this time.

In "A Grave Mistake", Bertrand anointed Haiku as the new leader of the Morticians Club after his retirement but Lucy felt as though she deserved the position more and suggested they put it to a vote. Morpheus and Boris still voted for Haiku because she, respectively, wrote a Morpheus a haiku about his pet crow, Thorn and promised Boris a ride in her "hearse", which was just her family station wagon painted black. Lucy was able to get the popular vote by inaugurating Lincoln to the club just so she could one-up Haiku, winning her the election. Haiku and the other goths didn't approve of Lucy's corrupt political move and quit the club. After Lucy failed to give Ricky the Rooster a proper sendoff and apologized, Haiku offered to help her throw a better funeral. Lucy gave up her role as president to give her position back to Haiku but Haiku had the better idea to share the role of leader with Lucy.

In "Sand Hassles", Haiku, along with the rest of the Morticians Club, was very upset with the fact that she had to go to the beach for her 3rd grade field trip. When they got to the beach, they all waited in a dark tent until the field trip was over. When Lucy and Fang snuck out of the tent to go play volleyball, Haiku offered to go with her but Lucy refused, not wanting Haiku to know she was betraying them. When Haiku found out the truth, she was very angry but Lucy convinced her to join her in having fun on the beach. Haiku and Lucy got buried in the sand together.

In "Ghosted!", Haiku, along with the rest of the Morticians Club, went to Fairway University to help Lori with her ghost problem by studying Shanks' past to learn that he used to like fermented bean meal and pigs in blankets. Haiku and Lucy helped Lori cook bean meal to lure Shanks back to the college. Haiku was bombarded by cheerleaders, which she hissed and pawed at.

In "She's All Bat", she and the Morticians Club look for a seventh member after Wilbur Huggins tells them that school clubs formed after 1874 is required to have seven members.

In "Fright Bite" She, Lucy, along the rest of the Morticians Club we're excited to be in the new Episode The Vampires of Melancholia.

Personality[]

Haiku is mostly a calm girl, fascinated by poetry and gothic literature. Like her friend Lucy, Haiku is an aspiring poet, even keeping a poetry journal. When Lincoln told her a simple improvised poem about Jack and Jill, she interpreted it as deeper thoughts than their really were.

She speaks with a calm, emotionless tone and rarely smiles. Like Lucy, she has affections towards a likely fictional vampire and she wears a locket with a picture of her love interest around her neck. When all the students were dancing, Haiku preferred writing in her diary over dancing, except for a slow dancing with Clyde.

According to Clyde, Haiku dislikes cats, sunlight and people who smile too much. She also dislikes dishonesty. Her dislike of sunlight is further showcased in "Sand Hassles", in which she and her friends were displeased at a school trip to the beach, partly because of the sunlight. However, she managed to tolerate the sunlight in favor of certain activities she found fun, such as playing volleyball and burying herself.

Appearance[]

Haiku has a slender figure body, with skin as pale as Lucy's. She has long black hair with a reflective shine that always conceals one of her eyes, plus she has mascara and purple eyeshadow. She wears a long dark purple dress, black belt with a white skull and dark purple fingerless gloves.

Trivia[]

  • Her name is a reference to the Japanese style of poetry of the same name, which only consists of three lines, none of which rhyme. The first line has five syllables, the second line has seven syllables, and the third line has five syllables.
    • This obviously references her fascination with poetry.

The part in Haiku's hair being inconsistent

  • The part in Haiku's hair would switch sides, depending on which way her character model was facing, though as of "The Write Stuff", the part in her hair now stays on the same side of her face, regardless of which way she's facing.
  • Her voice actress, Georgie Kidder, also voices Polly Pain.
    • Haiku and Polly Pain both share the same voice actress, like their friends Lynn and Lucy, who are both voiced by Jessica DiCicco.
  • According to "Who's the Loudest?", she's the "co-leader" of the Morticians' Club.
  • "Back to School Special" reveals that she used to go to rodeos when she was younger.
  • "What Lies Beneath" reveals that her mother uses reverse psychology on her birthdays, saying, "Don't go through all that trouble" but expecting people to do so.

Personality[]

Similarly to Lucy, Boris is usually very stoic and unemotional, and he finds admiration toward mortality. However, he is shown to be the most sociable of the club (other than Lucy), as he can be drawn toward "normie" activities.

Boris tends to refer to himself in the third person.

  • Boris is the only one of Lucy's friends to meet the Casagrande family.
  • According to "Great Lakes Freakout!", Boris sleeps with his eyes open.
  • Because of his tall size, he's sometimes mistaken for an adult which Bobby does when they first met each other.
  • In "Haunted House Call" it's revealed that Boris is ticklish.
  • Boris plays the keyboard for the Moon Goats in "Bye Bye Birthday" and "Music to My Fears".
    • He auditioned for the band in the latter, whereas he actually played as an understudy in the former. Coincidentally, he does so intending as a stand-in for Luna.
  • "Totally Not a Loud" reveals that he is afraid of commitment.

Dante[]

Dante is a recurring character in The Loud House and a member of the Morticians Club.

Personality[]

Like his friends, Dante is usually very gloomy and antisocial. Throughout the series, Dante is shown to be gluttonous, usually shown eating something at whatever chance he gets. Additionally, he can be a bit selfish, as he is shown to be bad at sharing.

Appearance[]

Dante is a short round boy with tan skin and short black hair of which several strands hang over his face. He wears a long violet robe which reaches down to his feet, which conceals black flats.

Trivia[]

Morpheus[]

Morpheus is a recurring character in The Loud House and a member of the Morticians Club.

Personality[]

Morpheus is easily agitated, as shown certain times throughout the series. He also tends to be very vengeful, as shown when he casts spells against Rusty in "Let's Break a Deal" after Rusty backs out of their deal. Morpheus can also be dismissive of others' safety, as shown how the spells he casts on Rusty and Amber cause them minor injuries or discomfort.

Appearance[]

Morpheus is a tall boy with tan skin and short black hair. He wears black thick glasses, a white shirt, dark blue cape, black trousers and dark gray shoes. He also has a crow named Thorn that regularly follows him.

Trivia[]

Persephone[]

Persephone is a recurring character in The Loud House and a member of the Morticians Club.

Personality[]

Persephone is usually calm and stoic, just as the rest of the club. However, she usually is depicted as the quietest and least social member of the club, having far fewer speaking roles than most of the other members. She does, however, tend to be somewhat neglectful, as she uses a potion from a magic kit without reading the label.

Appearance[]

Persephone is a tall slim girl with pale skin, two pairs of eyelashes and black hair styled in a bun. She has buck teeth with braces and white pearl earrings. She wears a navy blue Victorian dress and navy blue high heel boots. She carries a purple parasol.

Bertrand[]

Bertrand is a recurring character in The Loud House and the former president of the Morticians Club.

Biography[]

In "A Grave Mistake," Bertrand had to resign as president of the Morticians Club after his father gets a job as a lifeguard at the S.S. Funtime Party Cruise. Originally, he picked Haiku to succeed him until Lucy got Lincoln to join the club in order to get the position. By the end of the episode, Bertrand was able to come up with a compromise that has Lucy and Haiku becoming co-presidents.

In "The Loathe Boat," Bertrand sends an SOS to Lucy and the rest of his friends. After telling his parents that he hated being on the cruise, Bertrand's father said that he can stay with his aunt, Madeline, who works as a life coach and raises snakes until the cruise is over. This has also since enabled him to rejoin the club and regain his pale complexion.

Personality[]

Bertrand is calm and stoic, just like the other members of the club. He dislikes being on his parents' cruise ship, as he describes himself as "dying inside" to their misunderstanding. He also describes himself and the rest of the group as "deeply complex". Despite this, he is capable of showing gratitude and love toward his family, as shown after they allowed him to stay in Royal Woods.

Appearance[]

Bertrand is a short, pale boy with a big head and short black hair. He wears a white shirt, black suit with red collar, black trousers and black shoes.

His skin was temporarily tanned with a sunglasses-shaped mark around his eyes during his stay on the S.S. Funtime Party Cruise, as seen in "The Loathe Boat". However, by "Bye Bye Birthday", his skin has reverted back to its pale complexion.

Trivia[]

  • Since his return to Royal Woods, he believes his spells have gotten poor due to being on the S.S. Funtime Party Cruise.

Trivia[]

  • A mortician is another word for an undertaker or a funeral director.
  • The names of the other members of the Morticians Club were revealed in "Loud and Proud".
  • People confuse them for trick-or-treaters and they get candy when they go door to door for this. Lucy and Haiku call it "goth perks."
  • The club members are fans of The Vampires of Melancholia, but hate the character of Tristan, as revealed in "Fandom Pains". However in, “Fright Bite”, they seemed to like, or at least be okay with, Tristan being on the show. Perhaps this is because he is a vampire now.
  • Lincoln Loud used to be a member of the club twice.
  • "Sand Hassles" reveals that, up until the end of the episode, they hated beaches, due to the hot weather, the sand and the fact that they had to play sports. A minor exception was Lucy, who wanted to go to the beach in "In Tents Debate", but this was pointed out as unusual for her by Luna, and Lucy only wanted to go there because of shark attacks. She also went to the beach in "No Such Luck", but this was likely only because the rest of her family were going.
    • This episode also reveals that they're all in 3rd grade (until Season 5) and play dead to avoid getting in trouble.
  • Before they got names and definitive voice actors, they had a short voiced part in "Fandom Pains." They were voiced by actresses who had another role in the episode. However, since they all talked at the same time, it is impossible to determine who voiced who. The actresses were:
  • "Who's the Loudest?" reveals that despite being gothic, they (especially Boris) like pop music when it's played on a funeral organ. It also reveals that they're afraid of expired food.
  • "Lucy Rolls the Dice" reveals that they like roleplaying games and that, due to their interest in the undead, they view the expression "I've never felt more alive" in a negative way.
  • "Fright Bite" reveals that they all want to be vampires.
  • "The Loathe Boat" reveals that they (with the possible exception of Lucy) are "not morning people".
  • Three of them have pets:
    • Lucy has Charles, Cliff, Geo, Walt, and Fangs.
    • Dante has Captain Ron, Virgil, and an unnamed snake.
    • Morpheus has Thorn.
  • Two of them have siblings:
    • Lucy has nine sisters and one brother.
    • Dante has a brother.
