Episode Information

"Space Jammed" is the thirty-third episode of the sixth season and the two-hundred-seventy-ninth episode of The Loud House.

Plot[]

Annoyed by Leni's intrusive babysitting, Lisa accidentally blasts herself and Todd into space.

Synopsis[]

Lisa and Todd are working on scientific equations in Lisa's room when Leni comes inside and notices the chalkboard. Lisa explains that she has been tasked with constructing a rocket ship that can be controlled from Earth and outer space, claiming it is confidential information. Leni asks Lisa if she has taken her bath, but Lisa (accidentally) reveals that she has a deadline with the Norwegian government, and she orders Todd to erase Leni's memory of the past minute. After doing so, Leni again asks Lisa about her bath, reminding her that she's her babysitter. But Lisa claims that she does not need babysitting and pays Leni to leave her alone.

Later, Lisa is working in the garage and is finding the rocket to not be perfect (as Todd added a frozen yogurt machine). Then Leni comes in with a bag of cheese roll-ups and a fashion puzzle and asks Lisa if she's had her morning snack. But Lisa insists that she is fine and shuts her out again, then takes Todd to work in her bunker. Now Lisa is beginning to misunderstand her own studies, and Leni calls her on the monitor to remind her it's time for her nap. So Lisa lies and says she came to the bunker to do that, and Leni leaves her alone. She immediately grabs her backpack and tells Todd to fire up the rocket, saying they're taking it for a test run and escaping Leni. The rocket successfully launches from the backyard while Leni is working on her puzzle.

S6E18A An asteroid field heading towards them

Lisa and Todd are caught in the asteroid shower.

Once in outer space, Lisa activates the ship's gravity function, but then the alarm indicates the thrusters are offline. Lisa says she didn't notice it during her pre-flight check, which she didn't perform, according to Todd, so she heads outside of the ship to fix it. But Todd does not stay at the controls, and the ship encounters a shower of asteroids. They get back inside, and Lisa reprograms the steering, but the rocket heads deeper into the asteroid shower instead of away from it. Then the steering goes offline, so Lisa calls NASA for help, but is put on hold for 7.9 Earth years.

Back at home, Leni has fallen asleep while working on the puzzle. Lisa calls her and wakes her up. Lisa explains to Leni that she hadn't taken a nap after all and that she needs Leni to head to the bunker. Leni enters the password to the bunker, which is still Lisa's birthday, but does not notice a booby trap that was installed by Luan. Once inside the bunker, Lisa tells Leni to enter a code on the keyboard, which is 2-0-3-3-7-5-7-5-1-9. Leni does so, but the rocket ship enters warp speed and careens past Venus and Mercury. Leni stops warp speed mode successfully, and Lisa tells Leni that her mistake could've destroyed the ship as well as herself and Todd. But Todd explains that it was Lisa's mistake and not Leni's; the last digit of the code to regain control of the ship is 8. Lisa is now unsure why she keeps making mistakes that day, but she realizes that they now have an even bigger problem: The ship has drifted too close to the sun, and they now have no way to get out of its gravitational pull.

Leni realizes why Lisa has been making so many mistakes: She skipped her snack and nap. Lisa explains that even if that were true, she couldn't do anything about it now. Leni tells Lisa to look in her backpack, and Lisa finds that Leni had smuggled a baggie of apple slices and carrot sticks inside it, claiming it's a babysitter thing. After eating, Lisa admits that she feels better but is still foggy from missing her nap. Leni suggests that Lisa instead shake her willies out. She does so despite the intense heat, and she immediately feels refreshed. Right away, Lisa hurriedly tries to fix the ship again, and she repairs the steering successfully. But even at full forward momentum, they cannot escape the sun's gravitational pull until Leni enters the code for warp speed once again. The ship pulls free of the sun and makes its way back to Earth.

S6E18A That's what babysitters and big sisters are for

Leni will always look out for her sister.

Once back on the ground, Lisa apologizes to Leni for not listening to her before and thanks her for saving her and Todd. Leni forgives Lisa, saying it is what babysitters and big sisters are for and that she will always look out for her. Lisa promises to listen to her big sister going forward, and she asks for any suggestions for relaxation after the day's events. The two sisters relax by working on Leni's fashion puzzle, while Todd sits in the refrigerator to cool down.

  • Lincoln appears on the title card as one of the craters on the planet.
  • Leni makes a callback to "Last Loud on Earth" by acknowledging that Lisa's birthday is still the password for her bunker.
  • This episode reveals the following:
    • Leni assembles jigsaw puzzles to unwind.
    • Despite being a year older, Lisa still takes her nap.
    • Lisa's bunker is equipped with a pie booby trap installed by Luan.
    • When Lisa is hungry and/or sleep deprived, she becomes extremely unfocused, to the point where she fails to recognize that she's hungry or sleep deprived.
  • Cartoon biology: Lisa breathes in space with her breathing tube disconnected.

References[]

  • Space Jammed - The title of this episode is a reference to the 1996 sports film Space Jam.
  • Yo Gabba Gabba! - One of Leni's methods of getting Lisa to focus is to "shake the willies out", which is likely a reference to the song "Shake Your Sillies Out" from this Nick Jr. program.
  • Men in Black - The device Todd uses to erase Leni's memory is the same as the one used in this franchise for the same purpose.
  • Alien - Todd's line "In space, no one can hear you snore." is a reference to this 1979 sci-fi horror film's iconic tagline, "In space, no one can hear you scream."
  • Superman - Todd throwing his arms in the air and calling himself Super-Todd is a reference to this famed superhero.

Errors[]

  • On the title card, there are two dark lines along the bottom edge.
  • When Leni looked at the coin, her hair overlaps her left shoulder and left hand for one frame.
  • When Leni was putting in the code for warp speed the first time, there's a purple spot on the back of her neck.
    • Also the last three numbers of the code on the screen reads 1-5-9 instead of 5-1-9.
  • When Leni tells Lisa to shake the willies out, she's not shaded on the monitor from the light from the sun.
  • In the closeup shot of the fashion puzzle, Lisa's green sweater sleeve is shown on her arm. But in the next shot, it's shown that Lisa is still wearing her spacesuit.
  • When Leni types the code for warp speed the second time, there's an extra 5.
