Bill Jarvis, otherwise known as the "Hollow Creek Killer", is the main antagonist of the Criminal Minds episode "Haunted". He is a pedophile who, as a young man, raped and murdered dozens of young boys, and forced his son Darrin to act as his accomplice.
He was portrayed by Don Creech as an older man and Kanin Howell when younger.
Biography[]
Jarvis is a sadistic pedophile who takes pleasure in raping, torturing, and killing young boys. His wife Doris died after giving birth to a son whom Jarvis did not even bother to name. Jarvis forced his son to help him kidnap young boys, whom he would keep locked up until he raped, tortured, and murdered them. He then made his son dispose of the bodies. Despite his depravity, however, his criminal record consisted only of one charge of drunk and disorderly conduct, and he posed as an upstanding member of society by owning his own machinist shop.
One day in 1975, one of the boys that Jarvis kidnapped, Tommy Phillips, persuaded Jarvis' son to help him escape. As they tried to run, however, Jarvis caught up to his son and tried to kill the boy in a fit of rage. Terrified, the boy stabbed Jarvis in the face and ran off. Severely emotionally scarred, the boy, eventually named Darrin Call, went through a series of abusive foster homes, and descended into mental illness, haunted by disjointed memories of what his father had made him do.
Jarvis, meanwhile, got away with his crimes for decades because Darrin's mental illness rendered him incapable of remembering his childhood in a coherent, linear fashion, and so he never told anyone what had happened. Jarvis eventually grew too old and weak to kill any more, so he contented himself with watching the children in the school across the street from his house, fantasizing about torturing and killing them.
"Haunted"[]
As an adult, Darrin is put on antipsychotic medication, which he stops taking in order to make sense of the chaotic memories that have tortured him for his entire life. He goes on a homicidal rampage brought on by his hallucinations, and local police call in the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) to profile and apprehend him. The BAU team eventually discover Darrin's connection to Jarvis, and to the long-unsolved Hollow Creek murders.
Special Supervisory Agent Aaron Hotchner goes inside Jarvis' house to find Darrin holding his father at gunpoint. Hotchner confronts Jarvis, who denies committing the murders and says that Darrin's memories of his abuse are simply delusions. Enraged, Darrin shoots his father three times in the chest, killing him.

- The late Dean Corll, a.k.a. “The Candy Man”, a serial killer/rapist of boys with the assistance of two teenage accomplices, one of whom Elmer Wayne Henley, eventually murdered him.
- The late Jurgen Bartsch, a.k.a. "The Carnival Killer", a West German serial killer/rapist of boys caught once one boy broke from his ties and escaped to turn Bartsch in to the police.
- The late Kenneth Parnell, the kidnapper and rapist of Steven Stayner, who also kidnapped Timothy White before both boys escaped.
