~ Hoshi Sato relates Duras' message.
Duras, also referred to as Duras, son of Toral, is a supporting antagonist in the second season of Enterprise, serving as the main antagonist of "Judgement" and the secondary antagonist of the season finale, "The Expanse".
He was portrayed by Daniel Riordan, who voiced Alduin in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Megatron in the 2001 Transformers: Robots in Disguise series and Walter Hardy in Marvel's Spider-Man.
Biography[]
Duras was the commander of the Klingon ship Bortas. He was assigned the task of tracking down a group of refugees from Raatooras, who had left their colony after the Klingon Empire had annexed it, stripped it of resources and abandoned them. The Klingon High Council saw them as rebels for fleeing Klingon space. Duras tracked the refugee ship down and found they had been given sanctuary by Enterprise. He contacted Captain Archer and demanded he turn the refugees over. Archer refused without further discussion, so Duras opened fire on him. Enterprise managed to trick the Bortas by fleeing into a planet's rings and then detonating a pocket of gas, disabling the Bortas while they fled the system. As punishment for the failure, Duras was demoted from captain to second weapons officer of the defence perimeter.
When Archer was captured by the Klingons and put on trial for his actions, Duras was called as a witness against him. He gave a highly slanted account of events, claiming that Archer had identified Enterprise as a battleship and made threats against the Empire and that Enterprise had fired first.
Archer was sentenced to life imprisonment on Rura Penthe but escaped. Some months later, the Klingon High Council restored Duras to starship command with an assignment to track down Archer. Duras attacked Enterprise as it approached Earth's solar system, demanding Archer surrender, but was driven off by Starfleet reinforcements. He remained concealed nearby and followed Enterprise once it left the system, attacking again. However, his ship was no match for Enterprise's upgraded arnaments and he was disabled again.
Duras made one final attempt to get his revenge on Archer and Enterprise as the ship prepared to enter the Delphic Expanse. Pursuing them through the gas clouds surrounding the Expanse, Duras led a squad of three ships but the other two broke off as they neared the Expanse, leaving only Duras' ship to continue the pursuit. Since Duras had transferred all power to forward shields, Enterprise was able to fly in a loop and fire on him from behind, destroying his ship.
Trivia[]
Duras was presumably an ancestor of the Duras encountered by Jean-Luc Picard two centuries later.
