Annorax was a Krenim scientist. He created a weapon-ship that was capable of erasing anything from history, to the extent of eradicating whole species. His first use of it was to wipe out the Rilgar, a race the Krenim were at war with, not realising that the Rilgar were responsible for an antibody that had protected the Krenims from a virus, resulting in most of the Krenim race being wiped from existence. Annorax began making further temporal incursions in an attempt to restore the Krenim Imperium but one of his early incursions erased the Krenim colony on Kyana Prime, and thus Annorax's wife. He began making an increasing number of attempts to alter history by erasing further races from existence, but no matter how much of the Krenim Imperium he restored, Kyana Prime remained missing. Since the vessel's temporal shields stopped them from aging and protected them from the effects of the temporal changes, Annorax and his crew were able to continue their work for two hundred years, beyond the normal Krenim lifespan, with Annorax keeping a small lock of his wife's hair, all that remained of her.
Annorax erased the Zahl race from history, restoring 98% of the Krenim Imperium, but not Kyana Prime. His first officer Obrist tried to argue that they had done enough but, ignoring his real motivation, Annorax insisted they had all the time they needed and would not rest until they had restored every single colony. He made another attempt but this time managed to accidentally erase most of the Krenims, his calculations having been thrown off by the presence of USS Voyager, which had been trying to cross Krenim space and had fitted itself with temporal shields to protect itself from their weapons.
Annorax tracked Voyager down with the weapon-ship and first abducted Commander Chakotay and Lieutenant Paris for analysis, then personally communicated with Captain Janeway before attempting to erase Voyager. Since the weapon-ship could not exceed warp six, Voyager was able to pull away and outrun them. After keeping the pair prisoner for two months, during which he failed to track down Voyager, Annorax proposed a deal with the pair whereby they could both achieve their goals. Chakotay was willing to work with him and proposed erasing a comet that Voyager had to divert course to avoid so they would never end up in Krenim space. Annorax showed him that erasing it would result in life never being seeded on several planets in the sector. He began to confide in Chakotay about his mistakes and motivation, while also claiming he had a special relationship with time, which he saw as working against him.
Ignoring his deal with Chakotay, Annorax then erased the Ram Izad species from existence, restoring 52% of the Krenim timeline but not Kyana Prime. Chakotay was thus shown he could never divert Annorax from his self-appointed mission and allowed Paris to contact Voyager with their location. Meanwhile, Janeway had formed an alliance with two races, the Nihydron and Mawasi, to launch an attack on Annorax's ship. Paris had convinced Obrist to rebel against Annorax and he deactivated the temporal shields, allowing Chakotay and Paris to be beamed aboard a Mawasi ship. Annorax destroyed two of the Nihydron ships but Janeway, alone aboard Voyager, set herself on a suicide run at Annorax's ship, causing the temporal core to invert and the ship to erase itself.
With all the temporal incursions he had created having been reversed, Annorax ended up back on Kyana Prime with his wife, in a timeline where he never created the time-ship.
