Tieran is the main antagonist of the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Warlord".
His original form was portrayed by Leigh J. McCloskey, who played Joran Dax in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Field of Fire". His host bodies were played by Jennifer Lien (who voiced Vitani in The Lion King II: Simba's Pride), Ron McCoy and Karl Wiettergott.
Biography[]
Tieran was a member of the Ilari race. A sickly child, he overcame his illness and rose to become ruler of his planet. However, he was a tyrannical despot and was eventually overthrown by the first of a new line of autarchs. Tieran found a way to artificially extend his life by using technology to transfer his mind into a succession of host bodies, surviving that way for two hundred years. His latest body was badly injured in a shuttle accident while he was travelling with his wife Nori and physician Adin. He was taken aboard Voyager but the body was too badly injured to survive so he transferred his mind to his nurse, Kes.
Tieran continued to pose as Kes among Voyager's crew, ending her relationship with Neelix and spending time with Nori and Adin, who were aware of who he really was. When a representative of the autarch came to collect Nori and Adin, Tieran killed both him and Voyager transporter chief Ensign Murphy. He, Nori and Adin commandeered the Ilari ship and met with Resh, the leader of his allies. Resh doubted the effectiveness of Tieran's new body but Tieran was enjoying making use of Kes' mental powers, which he used to telekinetically torture Resh until he accepted him.
Tieran led an attack on the autarch's palace and personally killed the autarch in cold blood. Demmas, the autarch's oldest son and heir, was off planet aboard Voyager so Tieran set out to seduce the younger son Ameron to add legitimacy to his claim to leadership. He also assured Nori he still considered her his wife despite his new female body. He telepathically sensed that Tuvok had infiltrated his guards, although Tuvok still managed to attempt to use a synaptic stimulator to extract him from Kes' body before being restrained. Tieran tormented Tuvok, accusing him of desiring Kes and kissing him. Tuvok responded by using a mind meld to temporarily bring Kes' personality to the surface before Tieran telekinetically threw him away.
In a dream, Tieran was confronted by Kes, who warned him he would never have her mind. Ameron tried to convince Tieran to seek a new willing host, since Kes would continue to reject him, but Tieran was angered by Ameron's refusal to drop the subject and telekinetically killed him. He announced he would marry Ameron, intending the two of them would be in a polyamorous relationship with Nori, and initially ignored reports that Voyager had joined Demmas' forces in a counter-attack, too busy revelling in his accession. Voyager personnel and Demmas stormed the throne room and most of Tieran's allies were killed. Neelix shot Tieran with a phaser on low power, prompting him to transfer his mind to Ameron. Kes immediately realised what had happened and used a synaptic stimulator on his new body, extracting his mind and presumably killing him.
