The Kunoichi (クノイチ Kunoichi?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a Guardian that dwells on Ouranos Island, being a stronger variant of the Shinobi.

Concept and creation[]

In fiction, a kunoichi is usually a female ninja. True to its name, the Kunoichi is an upgraded model of the Ninja guardian.

Appearance[]

As a more powerful variant of the Ninja, the Kunoichi's appearance is largely similar, though with much of the Ninja's black armor replaced with stronger red plates. Its head is also adorned with a red helmet or headdress which gives the Guardian a feminine touch in fitting with its name. Just like other Ninja models, it resembles the Soldier of the same rank.

History[]

Kunoichi is one of many types of Guardians constructed by the Ancients of the Starfall Islands to fight against the Ancients' true enemy. The Ancients' civilization eventually collapsed and the Kunoichi was sealed away along with the other guardians.

Sonic Frontiers[]

Sonic the Hedgehog can first encounter the Kunoichi on Ouranos Island.

Powers and abilities[]

As with other Ninja Guardians, the Kunoichi is highly agile, able to traverse the battle area quickly and even teleport from place to place, using these abilities to lay many blows on its opponent in a short amount of time. The Kunoichi can also create a single duplicate of itself, allowing it to deal even quicker attacks.

The Kunoichi's large blade arms are powerful weapons, and can also project both shields and lasers in combat.

Battle[]

The battle with the Kunoichi is relatively simple, mostly involving dodging away from the Kunoichi's fast attacks and attacking when its shield is down.
