Portal 4-9 or just 4-9, is a Cyber Space stage in Sonic Frontiers. It is the ninth and last Cyber Space stage in the original version of Ouranos Island, and the thirtieth stage overall.

Description[]

Main article: Eternal Highway

4-9 shares the basic Cyber Space theme along with other stages, while presenting floating city locations strongly resembling Skyscraper Scamper from Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version of Sonic Unleashed and Speed Highway from console/PC version of Sonic Generations. Aestetics for the stage closely the same as seen in other urban-themed stages with bright daytime setting.

Portal location[]

The entrance Portal to the Cyber Space stage is located to the far south-west of Ouranos Island. It requires three Portal Gears for this Portal to connect to Cyber Space.

Gameplay[]

Sonic will start off on a board, where the road meanders between slopes and flat land. There are ramps that can be jumped off for an attempt to reach Giant Rings, and traffic vehicles and barriers to slow the player down. Sonic will also lose a cluster of unrecoverable rings every time he hits a vehicle, and lose a life if he has no rings. The gameplay then reverts to normal 3D view followed by another boarding section which leads to the Portal Gate. Some of the blocks will raise after Sonic breaks a group of wooden crates and collects all the rings inside. The Black Dash Panel with blue accents and a Star symbol indicate boarding-mode.

Overview[]

The level kicks off with a downhill boarding section. It takes practice to jump off the ramps and hit the Dash Rings simultaneously but can save valuable time if attempting an S-Rank. Avoid the traffic vehicles at all costs. The boarding ends temporarily with a Star Post, reverting to platforming gameplay.

Up ahead are some moving blocks. As mentioned earlier in the Gameplay, breaking the wooden containers and collecting the rings inside will allow the blocks to ascend in more favorable positions, easing the time of ascent a bit. Atop the wall is another group of moving platforms, leading to the Star Post and one more downhill boarding section before the level ends with a Portal Gate.
