The Jellyfish^[1] (ジェリーフィッシュ, Jerīfisshu^?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a hovering jellyfish-like enemy which roams Ares Island.

Appearance[]

The Jellyfishes are robots with an umbrella-like shape. They have a mainly white color scheme, with black, orange and red details on their bodies.

Overview[]

In Sonic Frontiers, the Jellyfishes appear as enemies, being encountered on Ares and Rhea Island. In gameplay, when approached, the Jellyfish will deploy four rows of drones, each row containing four drones. While the green drones, which are the most common, can be safely destroyed, a few red drones will also spawn, which, when attacked, will damage Sonic.

After using the green drones to reach the Jellyfish, the player can attack or Stomp the enemy. Similarly to other enemies in this game, the Jellyfish drops items, ranging from Skill Pieces to Seeds and Portal Gears.

Powers and abilities[]

The Jellyfish are capable of levitation, preventing the player from reaching it. They can also spawn two types of drones which can be attacked using the Homing Attack: green drones, which are safe to attack, and red drones, which damage the player when attacked.

• Despite its name, the Jellyfish seems to be designed after the Kasa-Obake, due to its singular leg and umbrella-like shape.
