The Doodlebug has the same morphology as the Iridescent Flint Beetle, except it is coated with dirt and has small flies hovering around it, giving it a more repugnant appearance. They, like Iridescent Glint Beetles, drop sprays, ultra-bitter spray in particular. When Doodlebugs move, they release flatulence and leave noxious clouds of poisonous gas wherever they were, thus subjecting nearby Pikmin to choking. Therefore, White Pikmin are ideal for dealing with these creatures. Once a Doodlebug has been flipped over a few times, it will quickly retreat underground, although the same will happen if the bug is simply left undisturbed above ground for too long.

“The Doodlebug is certainly one of the more bizarre creatures I've seen. It's quite similar to the flint bugs I'm used to, but this one defends itself with its own flatulence! Like its similar family members, it moves much faster than before now. It seems like fighting them with White Pikmin is a must, but it's hard to actually score a good hit with them. Maybe just brute force with the purples is the way to go.”

The Doodlebug is a returning enemy appearing in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The creature retains its appearance from Pikmin 4. They will pop out of the ground when approached, skittering around before briefly stopping, and every time they start to move, they will fart out a cloud of poison. Pikmin trailing behind the Doodlebug will be poisoned by this gas, making White Pikmin the best type to use against them. The Doodlebugs can not only drop nectar, but they will also drop ultra-bitter spray.
