Hazard

Acid is an uncommon, dangerous, and often lethal hazard appearing as an effervescent fluid to distinguish it from water and to indicate that it can do significant damage to anything that touches it. Its color varies, with it being green in some games and clear in others. Most Pikmin, except for Green Pikmin and other acid-resistant Pikmin types, die instantly upon contact with acid with no chance of saving them, although other games can be a bit more forgiving in that they can be saved.

Acid is a hazard that appears in Pikmin 2... Again?. It is an effervescent, lime-colored fluid known mainly by the two members of the serpentunia family, the Blooming Sliturnip and White Sliturnip, but can also drip from ceilings. No Pikmin are resistant to acid, much like with explosions, and it is instantly lethal in most cases, disintegrating and thus killing Pikmin on contact with no chance to save them. Notably, the acid trail of the big acid ball spat out by the Blooming Sliturnip and the acid puddles of the Supreme Dweevil's Doom Sprayer when damaged enough don't instantly kill Pikmin; instead, they jump and scream, providing a chance to save their lives by whistling them.

Usually, explosions were already bad enough for reducing Pikmin to ashes. And forget exceptions that there is a Pikmin type that will survive. In that case, acid apparently learned and... well, exactly like explosions, you'll have to wait for it to clear.

Lethal to Sludge Pikmin, Blue Pikmin

Acid is a rather uncommon hazard appearing in Pikmin: Dual Worlds as a fizzy fluid that is typically clear, or when produced by enemies, green or yellow. It quickly, though not instantly, corrodes the bodies of any Pikmin that touch it, save Rust Pikmin. Any Pikmin that happens to be susceptible to acid will quickly die if not whistled, and Sludge and Blue Pikmin will die almost immediately. It can appear both in pool form and in the form of a projectile, similar to its cousin hazard, water. When a susceptible Pikmin falls into a pool of acid, it will begin thrashing about as if it was drowning, and its lower body will begin to appear almost hazy. When removed from the acid pool, the Pikmin will shake itself wildly to remove any lingering acid, and rejoin the squad after ward. If a susceptible Pikmin is sprayed with acid, a green droplet of acid will appear on its stem and it will begin to panic, similarly to any other stem-based hazard.

Lethal to All other Pikmin

Acid is a hazard appearing in Pikmin Rebirth. It can be identified by its faint green tint and fizzling appearance. Acid acts as a secondary fluid, being less common than water but more so than sludge. Acid is one of the more lethal hazards as it's the only one that can instantly kill all Pikmin regardless of source. Additionally, unlike water, acid can heavily damage any captain that touches it, draining health at an exponential rate the longer a captain remains in contact. Acid is resisted by the Green Pikmin and their abilities allow them to form a shield around the captain they are following, allowing for the mitigation of the heavy damage from the fluid, with a larger army of Green Pikmin allowing for higher resistance to acid. Additionally, Green Pikmin can become infused with acid to become Corrosive Pikmin, allowing them to melt stone, metal, and similar materials while also ignoring the defense of enemies, most notably those with high damage resistance such as the Silver Bulborb. Alongside forming pools, acid can also come from geysers and jets from surfaces, similar to water, fire, poison, and ice, as well as bubbles that will pop at the slightest touch.

In Pikmin: Legend of the Treasure, acid appears as an uncommon hazard. It mostly appears in caves but can also appear in some areas. Acid is shown as a translucent lime-colored, bubbling fluid. Pikmin that step on a puddle of acid will jump, screaming, while a drop of acid appears on the end of the stem. When an affected Pikmin runs out of acid, they will no longer be affected, and if a Pikmin stands in acid for 7 seconds, they will die. The only way to save them is to whistle them. The only Pikmin type that is resistant to acid is Green Pikmin. Acid can also be ejected from acid geysers.

In Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers, acid appears as a corrosive fluid that can quickly eat away at Pikmin should they touch it. In natural bodies of it, it's green-tinted, translucent, and constantly fizzes. Pikmin will drown in it much quicker than water, and dissolve when they fully succumb. It can also be spat up by some enemies in the form of an orange, viscous, almost cheese-like liquid that catches on the Pikmin's stem and causes them to scramble. Green Pikmin are immune to acid.

Acid is a dual hazard and obstacle appearing in Pikmin: Wide World. It is a clear, effervescent liquid that quickly eats away at exposed Pikmin and leaders, which flail around in agony. Any that splashes onto a surface emits a distinct hissing sound and may linger there as a puddle. Acid's most dangerous aspect is that Pikmin suffering from it die quickly but can still be saved with quick reaction, and leaders take great damage from it so long as they remain in contact with it and for some moments afterward. Green Pikmin are immune to acid's corrosive properties. The Antacid Polish renders leaders immune to acid. Acid instantly reverts the maturities of exposed Pikmin to leaf-stage and the effects of the hammer seed, knuckle seed, and whip seed on them, but Green Pikmin remain unaffected.

Pools of acid are shallow and have a distinct haze lingering above. Green Pikmin can navigate acid without issue as pools are so shallow, but other Pikmin flail in it shortly before dying with no chance to save them. Other liquids that fall into an acid body are immediately diluted in it and lost.
