Biography[]
Early Life[]
Jack Fletcher was born on May 24th, 1972 in New Zealand.
Military Service[]
At some point in 1989, Fletcher joined the New Zealand Defense Forces, serving until 1990. In 1991, he was seconded by the Central Intelligence Agency to operate under the 1 NZSAS Regt for Terminus Island security detail. During his time at the island, Fletcher gained notoriety for his poor attitude and behavior, ranging from stealing fellow operatives' personal belongings, cheating at cards, to avoiding janitorial work. The island's station chief, Althea Maxwell, requested Fletcher to be dismissed, on the grounds of being an "overly ambitious, mouthy little shit", but the administration staff of Project Janus denied this request, and instead approved to move Fletcher to a mainland facility. The transfer occurred on February 17th, 1991; unbeknownst to Fletcher, his transfer made him avoid a dimensional breach that would occur later in the night of that day.
Following this, Fletcher was honorably discharged post-mission in 1993.
Mercenary Work & Terminus Outcomes[]
Starting in 2005, Fletcher worked as a mercenary for a variety of clients. His mercernary work would later expand in 2011 into his own company; Terminus Outcomes, which would soon become one of the world's largest PMCs. He would headquarter Terminus in Brunei outside of any American extradition treaties, as well as set up training camps in Turkmenistan, Uganda, and in the Congo region.
Starting the Outbreak[]
In 2021, Fletcher would find him and his group hired by Victor Zakhaev to help uncover a hidden cache of Aetherium in Urzikstan. Zakhaev, Fletcher, and a squad of Terminus contractors travelled to Zaravan to uncover this cache while being pursued by local police after their ambush at an American checkpoint to create a diversion. They would eventually discover the cache, coming across the dead body of Grigori Weaver and three other individuals surrounding a strange device containing two vials of weapons-grade Aetherium. When a firefight ensues between Terminus and the local authorities' military police reinforcements, Zakhaev tosses one the vials at the cops, causing a Dark Aether outbreak to begin in the area. Fletcher watched in horror as many of his own men both dead and wounded turned into zombies began to attack each other, while Zakhaev grinned in satisfaction as the two in their LTV drove off to safety.
Stationing at Urzikstan[]
Roughly three weeks after starting the outbreak, Fletcher began mobilizing Terminus forces to Zaravan to harvest Aetherium for Zakhaev. The majority of the harvest was put toward weapons development, while whatever remained was given to Fletcher to sell to potential buyers. Terminus forces were also instructed to capture Doctor Ava Jansen, a physicist who was working for Zakhaev and helping him in researching Aetherium, before she betrayed him and went to hide in Zaravan. Unfortunately, Fletcher's men failed to capture Jansen as she got in contact with Operation Deadbolt, a CIA-backed task force dedicated to containing the outbreak. Deadbolt sent its own strike team to rescue Jansen and recruit her to their cause.
Over the course of the next few weeks, Terminus went head to head with Deadbolt as their operations continue to be thwarted by Deadbolt's strike team. Fletcher also managed to acquire Aetherium research data from the late Oskar Strauss, which he gave to his second-in-command "Legacy" Baranov for safeguarding. However, Deadbolt forces managed to prevail and take the data after assaulting Legacy's fortress and killing him. Eventually, Deadbolt assaulted Zakhaev's Aetherium refining factory, where they deployed their upgraded Aetherium Neutralizer in an attempt to destabilize all of the Aetherium crystals in Zakhaev's possession. The operation went sideways when an Aether Worm, Orcus was summoned due to the Neutralizer's activity. Regardless, Deadbolt was able to succeed, though they tore an interdimensional rift in the process. Zakhaev and Fletcher were forced to evacuate, the former lamenting the loss of his weapons.
Operating Independently[]
Following the loss against Deadbolt, Zakhaev fled Zaravan, leaving Terminus to operate on their own. Fletcher resumed their work, this time focusing on harvesting Aetherium strictly for sale, rather than developing weapons. With Legacy dead, Fletcher also deployed additional commanders to reinforce Zaravan, including Ari "Dokkaebi" Jo, Sona "Keres" Mirzoyan, and Rainmaker.
At some point, Fletcher learned about Omega Group, and heard whispers of the Dark Aether containing a treasure trove of goods. He assembled a team of Terminus operatives to escort him into the Dark Aether, after learning of a new rift opening in the high threat zone. Once inside, his team was quickly stranded due to unfamiliarity with the territory. Fortunately, Fletcher got in contact with Sergei Ravenov and the Deadbolt strike team, who followed them in pursuit. Both sides agreed to a truce and worked together to escape the Dark Aether. They found pieces of Jansen's Neutralizer and reassembled it in order to open another rift. Fletcher, however, betrayed both Deadbolt and his own men by using an Aetherium vial to transform Terminus operatives into zombies, slowing Ravenov and the strike team and facilitating his own escape. Afterwards, Fletcher remained in hiding and was not seen again throughout the duration of the outbreak.
