Born in Tianjin, Zhiqiang Huang was raised as a member of the working class and enlisted in the People's Liberation Army, following the footsteps of his grandmother who fought during the Chinese Civil War.
As a cadet, Huang was selected to join the Sharp Blade Commando Battalion of the Rocket Force where he spent the majority of his early experience securing bases around China. As time went by, Huang was tasked with defending missiles and nuclear weapons transports as well as facilities around the world.
By 2022, Huang became a contractor for the SpecGru private military company.

Many of Zimo's voice lines spoken in English were replaced with Mandarin phrases in the Season Two update.
Zimo's "War Shadow" skin was originally called "Shadow Warrior".
Until the Season Five update, Zimo was named Zhiquang Wong.
His previous name is technically incorrect; Zimo speaks Mandarin, which would mean that his name would be romanized as "Huang" rather than the Cantonese "Wong".
