—Reginn speaking with Sharena
Reginn is a character from Fire Emblem Heroes and the lead character of Book V. The younger sister of Fáfnir and Ótr, she is a princess of Niðavellir.
Profile[]
Reginn does not remember much about her family aside from the fact that she was orphaned along with her older brother Ótr after the old king of Niðavellir was killed and the kingdom descended into chaos. Amidst the chaos, the siblings found shelter in a village where they were later discovered by Fáfnir who took them into his care. While supportive of her new stepbrother, his actions overtime became a concern for Reginn, especially when he began invading realms. Despite this, she remains supportive of him, in hopes that he would return to the kind king he once was.
When Fáfnir sets his sights on the Kingdom of Askr, Reginn is sent to lead the invasion and capture Kiran under Ótr's orders, though the reason behind it is not disclosed to her. This order leads to an encounter with Alfonse and his forces who have just recently escaped from Dökkálfheimr. Despite a well fought battle, she is defeated and forced to retreat. She later reengages the Askran forces and Alfonse notices that she lacks conviction in her actions. After being defeated a second time, she cries over her failure. Alfonse and Sharena console her, and seeing their kindness despite being enemies only moments ago, Reginn pleads to the Askr forces to help her stop her brother's madness.
On their way to see Eitri, a sage whom she believes can stop Fáfnir, Reginn and the Askran forces encounter Ótr who is stunned to see her cooperating with them. Reginn voices her intent to stop Fáfnir, leading to her brother disowning her for her betrayal of her kingdom.
On their way to the capital of Niðavellir, Ótr reveals that Reginn is actually the princess, her biological parents being the king and queen killed in the coup. It is ultimately revealed that, in fact, Reginn is the only legitimate heir to the throne of Niðavellir. Ótr is the son of commoners that lived in the royal castle who were inadvertently responsible in part for the deaths of Reginn's parents when she was a baby. Fáfnir, meanwhile, was an unfortunate man pulled into the world by Eitri's attempts to replicate the power of Breidablik and rendered amnesiac. Reginn confronts Ótr, who is so obsessed with keeping Fáfnir from regaining his memories at the risk of losing his "brother" that he goes to extreme lengths, but Ótr dies at the hands of Fáfnir after the latter turns into a monster. Reginn brings a stop to Fáfnir, who regains his senses after being dealt a mortal blow.
With both of her brothers dead, Reginn confronts and strikes down Eitri, who in the end reveals that Reginn's ascension to the throne was her goal all along.
Personality[]
Reginn is a kind-hearted, gentle girl who cares greatly for her brothers. Fáfnir and Ótr's sudden change in personality, which she states are full of rage, is deeply concerning to her. Despite this, she faithfully obeyed their orders in the hopes that they may one day return to their former selves. She even cried when she felt that she had failed them after being defeated by the Order of Heroes twice. However, her encounter with the Order proved to be a window for her to ask someone for help in the hopes of returning her two brothers to their original selves.
Considered as the tomboyish Niðavellir royal, she claims to be an excellent cook and is eager to show her cooking skills.

Base Set[]
As the lead character for Book V, Reginn is a useful and equally powerful Astra Mythic Hero with a brand new mythic effect. If she is deployed during an Astra Mythic Season, the player is allowed to deploy one additional Hero, bringing the total to six offense Heroes, affecting scoring and giving the player more units to help clear tricky defense maps. As a unit herself, Reginn literally pilots a mech into battle as a Sword Cavalry. With strong offense sitting at neutral 36 Atk and 40 Spd, Reginn hits incredibly hard and can double a decent number of units. She has average physical bulk, scoring 38 HP and 30 Def, but her magical bulk is on the lower end at 24. As one can expect, Reginn has powerful applications and can immediately be used for success in Aether Raids going into Book V and beyond. But there is more to her kit that needs to be addressed to highlight what makes her a wonderful addition to every player that receives her for Book V.
Lyngheiðr is her weapon and it comes with a flat +3 Spd increase as well as some powerful effects bundled together. If she initiates, she gains +6 Atk/Spd to hit harder and score more doubles on what is essentially a neutral 49 Spd as well as reduces the first attack taken from an enemy by 30%, giving her slightly more bulk. What makes this weapon truly unique is the【Canto (3)】effect she gains after combat. While it can only activate for the first four turns of a battle, after combat, destroying a structure, or using an assist skill, Reginn can move a guaranteed 3 spaces immediately. The Canto effect is not affected by movement penalties that reduces her mobility like through a Gravity staff or bonuses like Legendary Azura's Gray Waves. This gives her a more controlled, higher range Hit and Run, perfect for smashing an enemy then retreating to safety. Several additional quirks are applied to the skill such as Galeforce taking prescience over this effect and Dancers being unable to make her proc the skill a second time during a battle. This weapon makes Reginn a wonderful offensive unit who is a veritable threat at the player's disposal.
Seidðr Shell is her unique Special which on Turn 1 fully charges its three turn cooldown, giving her immediate access to it for her first round of combat. When it activates, she deals 15 true damage to her foe and her attack targets the lower of their defensive stats. Reginn can use this to take out pesky high bulk defensive units by targeting their often much lower Res as a result, which in tandem with her various other skills in her kit, she can dish out incredible damage on even the most hardy of foes.
Swift Sparrow 3 grants her an additional +6 Atk and +7 Spd when she initiates, bringing both her stats to an incredible 64 Atk and 57 Spd, more than enough to double the fastest units in the unmerged roster with ease. All of this on top of her Lull Spd/Def, which inflicts -3 Spd/Def on her foe in-combat while neutralizing any buffs they received make her that much more hard hitting and drives the nail home that few units will be able to stop her during her turn. Panic Smoke adds one last present for her foes after demolishing their ally, inflicting【Panic】status, turning their bonuses into penalties until their turn starts.
Counters[]
Reginn is fortunately mainly going to be on offensive teams since she provides little scoring benefits in Aether Raids defense teams, but she is a veritable threat if she appears in an Arena Duel team. The main objective when dealing with her is to not let her initiate as the majority of her effects come when she has attacking priority. Her defenses, while decent, do not give her enough bulk to withstand some of the hard hitting Blues with some decent bulk. Units like Legendary Chrom, Dimitri and his various forms, and Female Kris do nicely. Her magical bulk is also lower than her physical, so nuking her with units like Ophelia, Selena, and Linde work as well. Finally, as a Cavalry, despite not being on a horse, Reginn is utterly destroyed by units who have weapons that deal effective damage against Cavalry units. Units like Micaiah and her various forms, Gray, and Matilda have an easy time exploiting this status.
Skill Inheritance[]
Reginn's starting kit is utterly flawless with the only skill missing being an Assist skill. Reposition is an easy must for her not only to give her another means to activate Canto, but also for its sheer utility in positioning out of place units. Smite also works for Aether Raids teams to help get slower allies to the enemy quicker. Galeforce can be considered instead of Seidðr Shell since it allows her to gain even more mobility and actually have three actions (two of which can be used to attack an enemy) if she can proc it before her Canto effect is triggered during a turn.

Etymology[]
In Norse mythology, Regin is the younger brother of Fáfnir and Ótr and has the ability to work with iron, silver, and gold to make beautiful and useful things. He later becomes Sigurd's foster father and instructs him to kill Fáfnir after he turns into a dragon. Afterwards, Regin instructed Sigurd to cook Fáfnir's heart and eat it. Sigurd later gained the ability to understand birds but also learned of Regin's plan to kill him as he was consumed by greed. Before he could react, Sigurd decapitated Regin with Gram, the same sword that killed his brother.
