The Sword (剣, Ken/Tsurugi) is a weapon type found throughout the Fire Emblem series.
Overview[]
Swords are one of the most common weapon-types found throughout the Fire Emblem franchise, and are a staple weapon of a wide range of classes. Within the Weapon Triangle, Swords have advantage against Axes but are at a disadvantage against Lances. Swords are mainly known for being light and easy to use compared to a Lance or Axe, thus attributing to its higher Hit Rate compared to the other two and lower Weight in games where the stat exists. Due to the nature of these stats, the class most commonly attributed to the weapon type is the Myrmidon and similar related classes that emphasize speed and skill. In Fates, Swords are treated in the same weapon category as Tomes, which means that they have an advantage against Bows but are at a disadvantage against Daggers. Fates also introduced a Hoshidan category of swords called Katana (刀).
One drawback of swords as a weapon class is that there are very few swords that deal physical damage at range equivalent to the Javelin or Hand Axe. Some games do feature swords with ranged attacks such as the Runesword or Levin Sword, but most ranged swords of this type deal magic damage rather than physical damage, and many sword users favor physical attack stats over magic. There are some notable exceptions, such as the Kodachi that does deal physical damage at range, but not every game has such a weapon available. The ability to deal physical damage at range is most often restricted to unique legendary weapons such as Ragnell or the Binding Blade.
Swords are the weapon type most commonly used by the lead characters of each title, be they a Lord or Avatar. Because of this trait, it is often the case that a legendary weapon obtained by the protagonist, and perhaps a key to the narrative, will be a sword such as the Falchion or the Yato.

Archanea Series[]
- Falchion - A divine sword forged from a fang of Naga, the Divine Dragon. It is wielded by Anri in the past and Marth in the present.
- Mercurius - One of the three Regalia weapons of Archanea.
Gaiden/Shadows of Valentia[]
- Royal Sword - A temperamental sword that can only be wielded by a person of royal lineage. It is wielded by Alm.
- Falchion - A second Falchion forged from a fang of Naga and gifted to Duma and Mila. It is wielded by Alm
- Golden Dagger - A keepsake of Celica given to Saber as payment for his mercenary service.
- Beloved Zofia - The true form of the Golden Dagger and a Zofian Royal treasure. It is wielded only by Celica.
Genealogy of the Holy War[]
- Tyrfing - A powerful blade wielded by the Crusader Baldr (Genealogy). Wielded by House Chalphy members Sigurd and his son Seliph.
- Mystletainn - Coined the Demon Sword, this blade was wielded by the Crusader Hoðr. It is wielded by Eldigan and his son Ares.
- Balmung - A sword wielded by the Crusader Od. It is wielded only by Shannan.
Fire Emblem: Thracia 776[]
- Light Brand - A sword bathed in holy light. Can only be wielded by Leif
- Lands Sword - A sword gifted by Eldigan to his sister Lachesis, who in turn gave the sword to her daughter Nanna.
Binding Blade[]
- Binding Blade - One of two blades wielded by the legendary Hartmut and exceeds the power of the Legendary Weapons of Elibe. Was used to seal the Demon Dragon Idunn. It can only be wielded by Roy in the present.
- Eckesachs - One of the Legendary Weapon of Elibe which was wielded by Hartmut. It is wielded by Zephiel primarily.
- Durandal - One of the Legendary Weapon of Elibe which was wielded by Champion Roland.
Blazing Blade[]
- Mani Katti - A sword whose blessing is bestowed only upon a select few. It is wielded only by Lyn
- Durandal - One of the Legendary Weapon of Elibe which was wielded by Champion Roland. It is wielded only by Eliwood in Blazing Blade
- Sol Katti - A exceptionally powerful dragonslaying sword that nearly matches the power of the Legendary Weapons of Elibe. Wielded only by Lyn.

- Sieglinde - One of the Sacred Twin weapons of Renais alongside Siegmund. Known as the Thunder Sword.
- Audhulma - One of the Sacred Twin weapons of Jehanna alongside Excalibur. Known as the Ice Blade.

- Amiti - A royal treasure of the Crimean royal family. Wielded only by Elincia

- Gurgurant - A powerful blade wielded by the Mad King of Daein, Ashnard.

- Falchion - The divine sword forged from the Fang of Naga. Has been reforged over the centuries since the time of Hero-King Marth. Can only be wielded by certain Exalted Blood.
- Parallel Falchion - A partially blessed Falchion from a ruined future. Wielded only by Lucina.
- Exalted Falchion - An Awakened Falchion with the full blessing of Naga herself. Wielded only by Chrom
- Amatsu - A royal regalia blade of Chon'sin.
- Missiletainn - the fabled demon sword of old or at least assumed so. Wielded only by Owain.

- Yato - A sword forged by the Rainbow Sage to slay degenerated First Dragons. Wielded only by Corrin
- Noble/Blazing Yato - The Yato blessed by the Hoshido royal weapons, Raijinto and the Fujin Yumi only.
- Grim/Shadow Yato - The Yato blessed by the Nohr royal weapons, Siegfried and Brynhildr only.
- Omega Yato - The true Yato, fully blessed by the Hoshido and Nohr royal weapons. The Fire Emblem of Fates.
- Raijinto - A lightning wreathed Katana and a royal weapon of Hoshido. Wielded by Ryoma.

- Thunderbrand - A sword wielded by the Ten Elites member Charon. Requires the Crest of Charon to wield.
- Blutgang - A sword wielded by the Ten Elites member Maurice. His name was lost to history and only those who wield the Crest of the Beast can wield his weapon.
