League of Lost Bastards from Final Fantasy XIV

Lorens with Merlwyb and Captain Bloefhis.

Lorens was one of the crew members of the League of Lost Bastards. In the year 1562 of the Sixth Astral Era, the Lominsan merchants were struggling with almost constant attacks from the Sahagin. Around this time, Captain Bloefhis Bloefhiswyn had ceded leadership of the Bastards to Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn, his daughter, but in practice Bloefhis still commanded the crew. Bloefhis led his crew in several battles against the Sahagins until in one of these fights Leviathan was summoned. Lorens and the Merlwyb's fleet managed to escape, and Bloefhis came to the rescue and managed to defeat the primal. But Captain Bloefhis fell under Leviathan's thrall. Bloefhis and his tempered pirates became known as Serpent Reavers. Merlwyb and Lorens traveled to the Serpent Reavers' hideout, where Merlwyb challenged her father to a duel. In the duel Lorens was the witness to Merlwyb's victory. After hearing the final words of his former captain, Lorens vowed that he would travel and form a group of trusted men to face the Primals, and he would support Merlwyb from the shadows.[1][2]

In the year 1565 of the Sixth Astral Era, Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn, who had triumphed at Trident and become the Admiral of Limsa Lominsa, hired the Company of Heroes, a band of mercenaries commanded by Lorens, to help the city-state deal with the primal threat. A year later, the Company of Heroes defeated Titan who had been summoned by the Kobolds. Later the same year, when Sahagin summoned Leviathan, the Company of Heroes worked alongside the Knights of the Barracuda to defeat the primal. The band continued to accept missions for the next ten years, losing many of their best to repeated tribal summons.[3]

During this period, Lorens met Landenel Peaumasquier, who was living a dishonorable life. Lorens welcomed Landenel into the Company and gave him a new purpose in life. When Landenel joined the Company, he had a duel with the commander. Lorens insisted that they should fight "on equal terms", putting their guns aside for a spear versus spear fight. Despite the disadvantage, Lorens won easily. Since then, Landenel vowed that he would follow Lorens anywhere until the day he could return the favor.[4]

Before the Calamity in year 1572, Lorens suddenly disbanded the Company and sent its members on separate ways, requesting that they continue to uphold the Company's creed, and then the he disappeared.[4]

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn[]

When Landenel decided to abandon his current life to search for his former commander Lorens, Landenel receives an anonymous missive announcing the commander's death. He travels to Costa del Sol and questions Wheiskaet for answers, but the former captain did not know about the contents of the letter. Landenel then makes his way to Shamani Lohmani in search of advice. Shamani theorizes that after the dissolution of the company, Lorens continued to watch Landenel. And realizing that Landenel was still stuck in the past, he decided to act and he sent the letter anonymously announcing his own death.[4]

Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker[]

Due to the threat of the Final Days in La Noscea, Merlwyb has reunited the members of the Company of Heroes once again and suggests reforming the Company once more to help track down the blasphemy that has appeared in the region, and prevent the Crushing Tide from summoning the Leviathan. With Commander Lorens absent, the members agree to appoint Warrior of Light as the new acting commander.[5]

After defending Candlekeep Quay from a Crushing Tide attack, the Company of Heroes sets out in search of Doww, who is hiding on a deserted island in the Cieldalaes. At the location the party encounters the blasphemy and discovers that it originated from the Indigo Matriarch, queen of the Sahagin. The party manages to escape thanks to a shot from Lorens that does not reveal himself.[6] Knowing that Lorens' abilities would be needed, the Warrior of Light meets with him and recruits him back into the Company of Heroes. Eventually, Wheiskaet warns that the blasphemy has been drawn to the Sastasha Seagrot. Warrior of Light, Lorens and Merlwyb set off to confront the beast. In the middle of the fight, members of the Company arrive on the scene and help defeat the Indigo Matriarch. Once everything has been resolved, the Company members are finally reunited with their former commander and the Company of Heroes is dissolved once again.[7]

When the presence of a blasphemy prevented the research team from climbing the Tower of Babil in Garlemald, the city-state leaders combined their forces to eradicate this threat. Lorens was one of the members of the reconnaissance team at the tower. Lorens reports that the blasphemy had a horde of beasts at his disposal and that their attempts to strike him from a distance were thwarted by a barrier of unknown origin. Lorens left to talk with Kan-E-Senna about how this protection can be overcome.[8] After Fourchenault's investigations confirm that the blasphemy was originally Nerva, Kan-E-Senna confirms that the tower was being used to collect aether to power the shield that protects the blasphemy. Nero interrupts the conversation and says that Varis' heart was still powering the tower and this was responsible for absorbing the aether. Vergilia, having vague memories of her tempered time, believes she knows where to find the core of the tower. Lorens suggests splitting into two groups, Lorens together with Yugiri, Fordola and Vergilia form a small unit to storm the facility guarding the core to break down the barrier while the other group with the main force storms the tower to confront the blasphemy.[9]
