“ | I told you, it wasn't rape. What I did with them was natural. The love that I have for Brandy is pure. It's honest. It's as real as the love you feel for your wife, | „ |
~ Eldon Balogh rationalizing his pedophilia to Elliot Stabler. |
Eldon Balogh (May 6, 1974 - December 28, 2010) is a supporting antagonist in the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Possessed". He is a pedophile who is obsessed with the "Brandy" series of child pornography videos, to the point that he kidnaps and rapes "Brandy" herself, Larissa Welsh.
He was portrayed by Devin Ratray.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Balogh was arrested in 2006 for molesting a little girl, a crime for which he served a year in prison. He became obsessed with a series of child pornography videos centered around Larissa Welsh, aka "Brandy", who was forced to perform in them by Orville Underwood. Balogh sexually abused several other little girls and made them call themselves "Brandy" to fulfill his fantasy, but it was never quite enough - what he really wanted was to be with the real "Brandy".
He met Underwood online, and asked to meet with him in person so he could tell him all about "Brandy". Underwood told him Brandy's real name, but refused to share the prurient details of molesting her, provoking an enraged Balogh to beat him nearly to death.
He then found Larissa's address, broke into her apartment while wearing a mask, and drugged her into unconsciousness with Rohypnol. He dressed her in a schoolgirl outfit and shaved her so she would appear more childlike, preparing to rape her while she was unconscious. However, Larissa's boyfriend interrupted them and tried to free her, but Balogh beat him unconscious and fled.
"Possessed"[]
Detectives Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler of the NYPD's Special Victims Unit investigate Larissa's rape, and discover the "Brandy" videos, leading them to believe that the rapist is a fan of the series. They find Balogh's criminal record and see that he fits the physical description of the rapist. They also find Balogh's other victims, who tell them that he threatened to have a secret (and fictional) organization called "Coventry" kill them and their families if they told on him.
Meanwhile, Balogh disguised himself as an orderly and sneaks into Larissa's hospital room, where he pretends to transfer her. He then rapes her in a closet. He is interrupted by Stabler, who beats him to a pulp until his fellow SVU Detective Fin Tutuola stops him, at which point they arrest him. Stabler then interrogates him, listening incredulously as he insists that what he did to Larissa and the other girls was not rape, and admits to beating up Underwood out of jealousy because he had "known" Larissa as a child. Underwood was found and hospitalized before being charged for his crimes.
Soon afterward, Balogh is murdered in prison by his fellow inmates after bragging about what he did to his victims. Larissa was told and was relieved by his death.
