Evacuate? In our moment of triumph? I think you overestimate their chances.
~ Grand Moff Tarkin, displaying his arrogance in regards to the Rebel attack; this would ultimately be his undoing.

Villains who have excessive pride as a prominent part of their personality. They are often overconfident, presumptuous, and egotistical in their abilities, which can lead to their defeat. They sometimes refuse to accept defeat even when it is very obvious or will keep on coming even after being defeated. These villains also rarely learn their lessons or learn from their mistakes, leading to further defeats. Also, their overconfidence could be exploited against and used against them, oftentimes leading to humiliating defeats as a result.

Not to be confused with Egotists, who are individuals suffering from an obsession with their own self-worth (though the two are often heavily confused). What really helps set these two apart is that while having an undeserved high opinion of themselves, arrogant villains also have a brazenly low opinion of others; egomaniacs are usually too busy obsessing about themselves to have low opinions of others.
