Fuecoco (Japanese: ホゲータ, Hepburn: Hogēta) (fwey-KO-ko[1]) is a Fire-type First partner Pokémon introduced in Generation IX. It is the First partner Pokémon for the Pokémon games, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.
Biology[]
Physiology[]
Fuecoco is a small crocodilian Pokémon with a red pepper-shaped body and a pair of short stubby arms each with three claws. It also has two stump-like legs each with two black toe claws. Two yellow stems protrude from Fuecoco's head. Fuecoco also has two yellow patches on its belly and tail.
Behavior[]
Fuecoco is described to be laidback and lives at its own pace. Fuecoco enjoys eating, and it will rush towards any food it sees. One Fuecoco can sing though they tend to be shy about others hearing its song.
Natural abilities[]
Fuecoco is able to absorb external heat via the square scales on its stomach and back in order to produce energy. The scales are always warm and can increase to intense temperatures. The flame energy that Fuecoco produces is always leaking out. The more excitable Fuecoco becomes, the greater the amount of flames are released.
Evolution[]
Fuecoco evolves into Crocalor at level 16.

- Scarlet
It lies on warm rocks and uses the heat absorbed by its square-shaped scales to create fire energy.
- Violet
Its flame sac is small, so energy is always leaking out. This energy is released from the dent atop Fuecoco's head and flickers to and fro.

Trivia[]
- Fuecoco is the second starter Pokémon based on a crocodile, the first being Totodile.
- It is also the third pokemon to be based on a crocodile with Totodile being the first and Sandile being the second.
- Fuecoco and its evolved forms are the only Fire-type starters based on an animal not represented in the Chinese Zodiac.
Origin[]
Fuecoco largely resembles a crocodile and a dinosaur. Its shape and coloration resemble that of a chili pepper and ghost pepper, befitting of its Fire typing. It also shares traits with an apple such as its coloration, its face resembling an apple cut in half, its eyes resembling apple seeds, its tail resembling an apple slice, and the yellow stems on its head resembling an apple stem and leaf.
Etymology[]
Fuecoco may originate from the Spanish words fuego (fire) and cocodrilo (crocodile). It may also incorporate cocoa, as its coloration and shape slightly resemble that of a cocoa bean pod.
