Flutter Mane (Japanese: ハバタクカミ, HepburnHabatakukami) (FLUH-ter mane[1]) is a Ghost/Fairy-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IX.

Biology[]

Physiology[]

Flutter Mane is a dark teal Pokémon that highly resembles Misdreavus, as it is its ancient relative. It has a significantly larger head than its present-day counterpart, and possesses longer tentacles sprouting from its forehead, with purplish-pink featherlike streaks at the ends; one frill has a lighter-teal colour than the rest. It has a red pearl necklace-like feature below its head, and three red spikes lining the top of its head. It bears a permanent mischievous-looking grin with a single sharp tooth showing. Its large half-circular eyes have red sclerae, yellow irises with slit cat- or snake-like pupils, bordered with thin black eyelids. The bottom of its body possesses multiple spike-like frills that form a dress-like shape, with a single frill in particular being red in color.

Behavior[]

Flutter Mane is said to have a highly fierce and aggressive, mischievous nature. However, it is also observed to be rather curious as well. It was believed to be a giant Misdreavus at first. It is believed that Flutter Mane is the ghost of a deceased pterosaur.

Natural abilities[]

Flutter Mane can only have the ability Protosynthesis, which will boost its most proficient stat in harsh sunlight or if it's holding a Booster Energy.

Evolution[]

Flutter Mane does not have an evolution, due to Mismagius not having a Paradox Pokémon form.

    Trivia[]

    • Flutter Mane is the ancient form of the Scarlet-exclusive Misdreavus.
    • In its Violet PokéDex entry, a real-world animal, the pterosaur, is mentioned.
      • This is similar to Raichu's FireRed PokéDex entry, which mentions an Indian elephant, another real world animal.

    Origin[]

Flutter Mane's design is inspired directly by Misdreavus. It may also be based on various other monsters from folklore, such as ghosts and witches.

    Etymology[]

Flutter Mane is literally flutter mane, inspired by its long head-frills that flutter when it levitates.
