Synopsis

The episode opens on Mystery Mountain, where An Yu is tending to a bonsai tree. She tells the tree that the following day is her 2,001st birthday, and she will be given a great task that she doesn't know the exact details of yet, but if she succeeds she will receive a gift of great dragon power. Unfortunately, an eavesdropping Night Ninja plots to trick her for his own purposes. Along with a Ninjalino, he breaks into the museum and destroys something.

The following day, Ivan and Amaya visit the museum, where they learn a 2,000-year-old dragon vase has been broken. Amaya wants to investigate who did this. After the Power Heroes meet up in their Power Q that night, she returns to the museum along with An Yu. When Owlette wonders why An Yu volunteered for the mission, she explains about the task she must complete for her 2,001st birthday, and assumes that the broken vase might be part of that task. She then notices scorch marks on the wall and believes that a dragon was freed from the vase when it broke. Owlette is excited to learn that it's An Yu's birthday and wants to throw her a party, but the dragon girl wants to focus on the mission first and insists she must complete the task alone.

As An Yu searches the library, Night Ninja observes the heroes. The scorch marks were put there as part of his plan. An Yu spots a shadow of a dragon and chases after it, unaware that it is actually a paper decoy being held by three Ninjalinos. Elsewhere in the museum, two other Ninjalinos ambush Owlette and trap her in a lock box. She calls out to An Yu, but she is too distracted chasing the dragon. She spots a red light coming from another room and thinks it's the dragon, but it is actually Night Ninja, who reveals his true plan; he has managed to get his hands on a miniature version of the Dragon Gong called the Ninja Trance Gong, and uses it to put An Yu under a mind-control spell.

Night Ninja takes the hypnotized dragon girl into the city and has her use her powers to destroy stuff. After having some fun in the city, Night Ninja orders An Yu to destroy the museum so he can have it rebuilt with a new one dedicated to him. In the museum, Owlette manages to escape the box by using her feathers to pick the lock ,although it takes multiple tries before she finally succeeds. Once free, she flies outside and sees what Night Ninja has done to An Yu. She uses her owl wing wind to make Night Ninja drop the gong, snapping An Yu out of the trance. They try to get the gong, but a Ninjalino gets his hands on it first; Owlette tries stop him, but is quickly incapacitated with Sticky Splat. An Yu however, manages to tackle the Ninjalino to the ground with two of Owlette's feathers; one of the feathers hits the gong and cracks it, rendering it powerless. However, An Yu pretends to still be under its influence so she can get close enough to Night Ninja for a surprise attack. With her staff, she blows the ninjas away.

The girls return to the museum and repair the broken vase. Owlette is disappointed An Yu never got her gift, but An Yu assures her she did; she learned that friendship is the most important gift of all. With their mission accomplished, the two head back to Power Q, where the other heroes have prepared a surprise party for An Yu.

Moral/Lesson

  • Friendship is the most important gift of all.

Trivia

  • This is the second time An Yu's birthday is celebrated.
    • The first was "PJ Masks Surprise."
      • However, somehow Owlette is caught off guard by the news that it is An Yu's birthday, and doesn't know how dragon girls celebrate their birthdays, even though she helped organize a birthday party for An Yu before in the aforementioned short.
  • An Yu is the fifth character to celebrate a birthday, with the previous four being:
  • Ice Cub and An Yu enter the museum for the first time.
  • The Ninja Trance Gong makes its first appearance.
  • An Yu rides in the Owl-Glider for the first time.
  • This is the first episode where Connor and Greg are not shown in the daytime.
  • This is the second time Ivan joins a fist bump with the PJ Masks (only Owlette) before the transformation sequence.
    • The first was in the previous episode.
