Super Mario Super Smash Bros.

Floating Jump (also Floaty Jump) is a recurring move in the Mario franchise. It originates from Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic, as one of Lina's moves, and makes its first Mario appearance in Super Mario Bros. 2.

Description[]

Floating Jump involves the user hovering in the air for about one or a few seconds. The move is mainly used by Princess Peach, but in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, it is also used by Toadette in her Peachette form.

In Super Mario series[]

Super Mario Bros. 2[]

Princess Toadstool uses this move in Super Mario Bros. 2. She temporarily hovers on midair for slightly over a second.

Super Mario Run[]

Floating Jump returns as one of Princess Peach's moves. It was also mentioned in the Tips and Tricks Notebook. Princess Peach can perform this move until she touches an enemy or lands to the ground or enemy. The Floating Jump can be performed while holding the finger on the touchscreen on midair.

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe[]

Toadette can use the Super Crown power-up and perform the floating jump. While Peachette performs this, she can jump on midair by pressing R Button.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie[]

In The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Peach performs a Floating Jump as she descends from the Goal Pole of the Training Course.

Crossover appearances[]

Super Smash Bros. series[]

Peach and Daisy can float for 2.5 seconds. It grants improved horizontal recovery and allows them to prevent opponents from getting back to the stage. The player can float by holding the jump button. Peach and Daisy can float on the ground; this gives them the ability to perform aerial attacks on grounded opponents. If Peach and Daisy are floating while holding an item, they will perform aerial attacks without throwing or dropping the item. Daisy has not used this ability outside of her playable appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
