Acorn Plains Way, also known as Acorn Plains-1, is the first level of Acorn Plains in New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. This round is also the first of the games. This level introduces the new enemy type, Waddlewings, as well as the new item, the Super Acorn. The Super Acorn can allow Mario to transform into Flying Squirrel Mario which is similar to the Tanooki Suit. The stage consists of several flat plains, elevating platforms that shift position, as well as some areas underground.

Layout[]

The course is a simple grassland level, littered with pipes, blue platforms, Piranha Plants, and elevated platforms. Different secrets are hidden throughout the level that can be found by using the Flying Squirrel suit or Balloon Baby Yoshi. The level contains two sub-levels, one in the sky and another underground.

Changes in Deluxe[]

There is a Super Crown found inside the ? Block next to the Brick Block. Under the platform, the Super Crown replaced the Super Acorn inside the ? Block next to the Brick Block. After collecting the eight Red Coins, a Super Crown may appear along with the 1-Up Mushroom and Super Acorn. Peachette can also collect the third Star Coin.

Star Coins[]

• Star Coin 1: This Star Coin can be seen hovering in plain view, after obtaining the Super Acorn from the Waddlewing, you'll see a set of three raised platforms. Jump onto the highest platform (the middle one) and preform a jump and glide to collect it.
• Star Coin 2: After collecting the first coin, fall back to the ground and look for a green pipe jutting out from the ground. Go down the pipe to a small underground subsection and collect the Star Coin on the line of blocks.
• Star Coin 3: Progress further into the level until you come across another set of 3 raised platforms. The top of the middle platform will contain a train of coins that will lead to a glide that will push you upwards onto another platform. There's an upside-down pipe here that will take you to another level subsection. The subsection contains a long vertical drop with Waddlewings as obstacles. Glide down the path of coins and you'll collect the last Star Coin as you reach the end.
